How to Save Money at Vetique: Gold Coast & River North's Premium Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This is the best vet that we have ever been to- and we have been to many vets. Dr. Remnes is the sweetest, most down to earth person, and is so kind with all three of our kitties! Illiana is an amazing person who is so supportive and quick to answer questions via email and phone! Vetique has been so accommodating, understanding, and patient with my many questions and provides wonderful detailed reports, instructions, and assistance to ensure our babies are taken care of. They are quick to prioritize urgent needs and everyone provides an immense amount of empathy to not only the animals, but their owners. I will continue to go here as long as I live in Chicago!

I’m honestly mad at myself for not finding this place sooner. My old vet always made me feel rushed and dismissed. My cat, Soot, was so scared she wouldn’t even come out of her carrier. This experience was the complete opposite. Everyone here was incredibly kind, patient, and open to questions. Dr. Jessica Trice took her time with us. She didn’t rush the appointment or pressure Soot into anything. Soot actually felt comfortable enough to come out and explore the room, even climbing into the exam room cat tree like she owned the place. They had plenty of treats (Soot helped herself to a Churu), complimentary drinks for pet owners, and even an option for an online pharmacy. On top of all that, it was cheaper than my old vet. I left feeling not just that Soot was well cared for but that I could trust this team completely. I’m already excited to bring the new kitten I’m getting in August! Thank you guys so much for showing us that going to the vet can be enjoyable for owners and pets!

My cat, Grady, was delighted with the care he received at Vetique after being traumatized at an adoption center. The doctor and med tech were so smart about how to keep him calm and happy. Grady even gave them head butts and kisses! I was impressed with the considerate advice about caring for Grady’s FIV+ status and did not feel I was being “upsold” like I have at corporate owned vet clinics. I’m also happy to support a local woman owned business.

If you are looking for devoted vets that will love your pet almost as much as you do... look no further! My cat, Andi, and I had the best experience at Vetique from the moment we walked in the door. The staff was incredibly friendly, and Dr. Trice took the time to listen to my concerns and make sure Andi felt loved. Thank you all for the wonderful experience and for taking such good care of my baby!

Took my dog, Ellie, here for the first time today to get her established at a new vet and get some vaccines that she was due for. I can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner! The staff couldn’t be more accommodating and sweet, and it was so clear that they care about all of the animals that come in. Ellie has previously had some bad reactions to routine vaccines, and the vets and techs were awesome with her and made sure to take every measure to avoid an allergic reaction. I really appreciate the staff listening so intently and making me and Ellie feel cared for and welcome. Could not recommend Vetique more!
