How to Save Money at My Vet Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Been coming here for years. I’ve always had dogs. Milo was in their care most of his life he was 10 years old. He had seizures and anxiety needed check up regularly. Dr Lee and Dr Henry were the best with him. Very patient and always explained everything in detail and looked out for what was best for him. When he passed it was super hard for us and the staff really reached out to help us with our grief on a few occasions. From calls to cards. I will never forget that. We recently got a stray cat Xena and took her today for her first visit. It was so nice to see them again. Never had a tiny kitten but Dr Henry and her staff as usual answered our questions and I know they will continue to do so as always

I started coming here when my pet was a puppy and for all of his first year shots. We had a great experience until he had an eye issue at about 6 months. They did an eye stain test that then made him scared of eye drops which he was prescribed during the visit. Despite multiple people trying to help me administer the drops, he would not allow it. I had his doggy day care and boarding attempt and they could not do it either. I called the office to explain the trouble that I was having giving him the drops and asked for any alternative to the drops - ointment, pill, anything. I called several times and the calls weren’t returned at all on multiple occasions. When I did get a call back the front desk told me that I should just come back in for another appointment (costing hundreds of dollars again) which the doctor later said was not necessary. I was finally told that drops were the only option and to look into training for my dog. Throughout the series of calls, they said that I could come in to get help applying the drops but it would be ~$50 each time for a tech visit and another type of visit (that I can’t recall the name of at the moment). About a month later, I went to an emergency vet for something else and asked them to also look at his eye. Well what do you know - the vet there prescribed a topical ointment of the exact same medication as the drops and gave a pill form of an antibiotic that also helped to clear it up. I established care with another vet recently, they also prescribed a topical ointment for ongoing maintenance on the eye. My Vet & their staff were unnecessarily rude, uncaring and unwilling to help during the situation. They also seemed to be trying for a cash grab by telling me to come in again for another appointment. While they were great for the first appointments, there were no issues with my pet during those visits. When your pet is sick, especially a puppy as a first time pet owner, you just want to help the pet. Some compassion and kindness from your vet & vet staff (not to mention a prescription/remedy that actually works) goes a long way. My Vet showed none of that; in fact, they caused more problems and heartache, further aggravating the situation.

My Vet took the absolute best care of our sweet cat Sonny who unfortunately passed from a progressive kidney disease. Every single person who works here was so compassionate and caring towards our cat. Dr. Henry was informative and friendly and explained everything to us in ways we could understand. Anytime we brought our cat in for check ups, they gave him lots of treats and made sure he was comfortable when getting tests or shots done. When his kidney disease progressed rapidly overnight, they moved their schedule around for us so we could bring him in to be put down. Although it was so hard for us to do, they made sure to take care of us and put our needs first. HUGE shoutout to women at the front desk who gave us hugs and really made us feel cared for. They said so many kind words to us and about our cat. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would, I trust them with all my future pet needs and recommend them to anyone!!

I wanted to take a moment to share the amazing experience we’ve had with the doctors and the staff at My Vet. Our doodle had developed fear and anxiety when going to the vet. Dr. Henry and the team worked closely with us to introduce the right medications to help reduce her stress. They were also incredibly patient with her during the appointments. Their care and attention has made a huge difference. We’re so appreciative, and would definitely recommend the team at My Vet. Thank you!

We had to make a later evening visit after our dog unexpectedly passed away. They were able to accommodate us as new clients as well help us through the difficult time. The entire ordeal, while very sad and challenging, was made better thanks to the kindness and compassion of everyone at the animal hospital. Dr. Henry was very kind and sympathetic and helped guide us through the next steps. Thank you to everyone for your care and respect during a challenging time. We truly appreciate you and your care for pets and families!
