How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Animal Eye Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

You can compare coverage options from multiple providers to find a plan that fits your budget and your pet’s healthcare needs.
Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

I scheduled an appointment for a second opinion for treatment of my puppy's cherry eye with this practice at CVETS in Columbia SC. I was very pleased with the tech and provider that I met with during the evaluation. I was also happy to have the second opinion and a faster treatment option than my general vet was offering me to correct the issue. Will be scheduling surgery soon and looking forward to excellent results.

I oversee a group of volunteers for Southeastern Guide Dogs who raise guide/service dog puppies. Our puppies require eye exams to ensure their eyes are developing normally and staying healthy, since they are expected to be someone's eyes one day. We use Dr. Nelson at AEC whenever we need to send our pups for their regular, more inclusive eye exams and we always receive great care there! They are kind, compassionate, and thorough in their appointments and providing the required testing/examinations as requested by the guide dog school. We are so appreciative of Dr. Pinto and his staff!

My cats eye was punctured by another cat, we went to the regular vet and she was treated for an ulcer that was a result. She developed a sequestra and we were referred to Animal Eye clinic. My cat was in pain and it was breaking my heart to see her that way. They got us an appointment for the very next day. They took her back and asked some questions. By the time they returned he had already done non invasive surgery on her. I knew what we were going to the specialist for I just wished I could have been talked through it before the surgery happened. Dr pinto came in and explained what he had done and gave clear follow up instructions. I noticed the very next day her eye was better and she did not seem in pain. Could not be happier with the visit.

My 13 year old pug had her left eye removed three weeks ago and is doing great! Everyone was very caring. A pug I had that has since passed was able to have his eye saved.
