How to Save Money at Value Vet Lawrenceville

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Bad service …….from the vet STEPHEN POPE, ………………………….I charge a consultation that lasted 3 minutes, he never listened to me what my dog needed, he was also rude and racist, he later sent an invoice for $646.31 with the assistant where he prescribed according to what my dog needed, Without any explanation, he did not do the necessary tests to medicate. I advise you not to go to this place, your dog can take risks and so can your wallet . !!!:(

The staff at this location has taken excellent care of my animals and my family over the years. We have been helped through veterinary general care, a chronic illness, and the eventual end-of-life care that our pet required. I’m incredibly grateful for their kindness, willingness to do anything in their power, quick action, reasonable pricing, and the way they’ve actually gotten to know my pets. Thank you for everything…

Brea is a wonderful assistant and is always compassionate and full of knowledge which I value. I hope you can get some new doctors in the practice soon.

Young lady by the name of, Grace.. super sweet, welcoming and kind. She is a keeper 5 stars all the way!! — On another note, the prices are not what they used to be. The value in “Value Vet”, not so much and needs some adjusting. Prices are bit too high for a simple well exam and rabies shot.. because it was necessary and late in the day, I paid the ridiculous $25 for my babies nails, but for that reason, I also opted out of any further services and will be seeing another vet. Shame—

PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR FUR BABY HERE!! ASK FOR BREE AND THE OTHER ASSISTANT BECAUSE THEY SHOULD BE THE VETS!! STEPHEN POPE IS LAZY AND HE IS STRAIGHT A** AT HIS JOB. HE SHOULD NOT BE A VET…HE SHOULD BE A FIRED VET! We went to this place 2 months ago because our dog was becoming really itchy and his ears were red. STEPHEN POPE is the vet that looked at him. He looked at him for 2 seconds (literally) and said “ Oh he just has dry skin” and sent us home with shampoo and mousse… it didnt work. And the mousse irritated him too. We just got back home from seeing them again because his ears and skin got way worse. STEPHEN POPE comes in looks at him for 2 seconds (literally) and said “oh its probably just flea bites”….. but my dog doesnt have fleas.. and he would know that if he looked. I told Bree (the assistant) that he didnt even check his ears. His excuse was that our pup was too active but HES A PUPPY. Of course hes going to be happy meeting new people but that does not mean that he doesnt deserve the right care ( not to mention he is such a sweet and loving boy). He came back to check his ears and told us (as if we were incompetent) that whatever he prescribed would get rid of the irritation in his ears. But he didnt even tell us what was wrong with him. No diagnoses once again. Bree and another assistant (i didnt get his name) were way better Vets than Stephen Pope. They gave us resources, explanations, and even suggested an ear treatment to help the irritation in his ears. They gave us advice on his diet and made us aware of signs that we should look out for just in case. That is why ill give this place 2 stars. The staff is great, inviting, and welcoming. They work with my pups activeness and they show him the same love that we would. But … no offense… STEPHEN POPE IS TRASH 🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮👎🏾🚫🚫🚫⛔️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️.
