How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Hemlock Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

They are great veterinarian and really affordable. Both of my dogs had surgery here. I had quotes from different clinics, I was quoted double of what I paid in hemlock. I'm so grateful with them. I had adopted a dog from a shelter and a week later my vet took xrays because he walked funny and found an old injury that required surgery asap (FHO) the shelter refused to help with the surgery even when I show them that it was an old injury and I questioned them why they didn't help the dog when it was obviously suffering. Thanks to hemlock I was able to afford the surgery and keep my baby as I wasn't willing to give it back to the shelter.

They are incredible here. Love that they have knowledge of bully breeds and how sweet they have been to our pups and us.

Went in to follow up today with my dog on our last which was apparently middle of April. I didn't think the treatment he got him better and in fact conditions seemed to worsen we went in for chewing paws and itching. Then he was treated for a double ear infection I didn't know about. I had a much better experience with different staff members. I was much more informed and listened to. My last visit was just not a great day for anyone involved I suppose. I decided to try the allergy shot path today after being explained that it was most likely the root. I am hoping my dog gets better with that, though not cheap, it could be the answer to his many symptoms.. I was explained thoroughly that a yeast infection is many times secondary after the skin is broken from scratch due to anything that is the root cause for that. Thank you Hemlock for your service and attitude towards my dog and I today! I wasn't prepared for the expense prior but dealing while the root of the problem as we nurse the other issues as I can. Thank you again for being more informative and patient as I was really mostly concerned about my dogs suffering and not having another temporary relief that was expensive and not successful. Taking you guys original advice with hope that it's the ticket and though a bit broker (lol) but being more informed. and hopeful for an end to my dogs suffering. Blessings and Peace!!!

Took my almost six month old shepherd mix to be spayed. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I have never been here before. WOW! They were all so kind and took care of our Roxanne so well, quickly, and insanely affordable! Other vets charge $300 just for spay! I payed about half that, amazing! The place was very clean, especially for having pets in and out all day. Adorably decorated too, I must add! Everyone was kind well mannered. They gave clear instructions on medication and lifestyle for my pup for the days following surgery, things to look out for, and told me to call them if anything seemed wrong. They are very relaxed, but also very professional. I like the curbside pickup. It saves them and you the stress of having a bunch of cats and dogs in the lobby which is loud and chaotic. Thank you Hemlock! My Roxanne is doing well, and her belly looks great!
