How to Save Money at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Just an amazing staff too to bottom. Always attentive and caring. Always considering the needs and comfort of our kitties with everything they do. The doctors (we see Dr. Stewart) listen and actually care about what you have to say. They treat this as a healthcare team and not just a one-sided entity. I work in human medicine, so it takes a lot for me to trust in healthcare of any kind. I absolutely trust these people with the well being of my fur children. I don’t make that statement lightly.

I brought my pets (3 dogs and a cat) to this clinic based on their good reviews. All the clinics I have been to tried to rip me off. Well this clinic is not any different than the others. One of my dogs is 9 years old, and he is my first dog. He is the healthiest one in our family he is very active and sweet. We didn’t have any concerns about his health before, but since he is getting old I am getting little anxious about it. They told me I needed to senior program checkup because his heart beats was irregular. It got me panicked, so I accepted it. They brought an estimate sheet for $670 with his yearly vaccines, and they told me their main concern is his heart, so he needs an echo, plus with senior program they will check everything. After I left I got the lab results saying he is totally fine. Another email for his echo appointment and another estimate for $560. If I knew the first estimate didn’t include “what he needed” I wouldn’t get the other tests. Would I bring my pets back to this clinic ever again? No way! Trying to rip me off and using my worries about my dog to make extra money? Find yourself a different victim.

They are professional, organized, and seem to give great care. When my own vet that I have used for years and years could not see my dog, after a visit to the emergency vet the night before, I called Peachtree Hills. They fit her in that day and have scheduled the surgery she needs within a few days. I am very pleased so far

Rowdy Grunt

We've been taking our Rhodesian Ridgebacks to Peachtree Hills for a number of years. And for almost all of that they have been wonderful. However something has changed in that they go out of their way to avoid talking to you, but they're very very good at charging you for everything, and then over selling you on things your pets probably don't need but they emotionally know you will pay for. Many of the front desk people treat you as if you are interrupting them as well. It used to be friendly. Furthermore they've configured their technology so that you cannot even call them and get a text back for your pets prescriptions. Something very simple. They say call ask you to leave a phone number, and a text chat will start. If you're okay with waiting for 2 weeks and then never getting a response, but calling them trying to speak to the human, you get nothing; if you're okay with that, you'll love them. They like most veterinarian offices now are more about taking your money than taking care of your animals. This is the direction this veterinary office is going right now in real time. It's a shame. The Vets there are excellent. It's the rest of the operation that's going on the can.
