How to Save Money at All Pets Emergency & Referral

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We came in with my dog Daisy on 2/12/2023 with muscles shaking and refusal to move. Dr. Sidney Tison almost left our dog paralyzed on its hind legs, misdiagnosing poisoning instead of a herniated spinal cord with its compression. Moreover, he prescribed muscle relaxants that made it difficult for my dog to choose a comfortable position and 200 ml of liquid injected through a syringe under her skin, ostensibly to reduce dehydration, which put even more stress on her back with a hernia. The next day after the visit, when the treatment did not help and the legs began to fail, we called the center by phone, as the doctor said. The answer was given: legs dragging behind the body are standard while taking muscle relaxants. Realizing it was not worth waiting for help in this place, we turned to another emergency room, where a neurological diagnosis was made. The dog was urgently operated on at the Teaching Animal Hospital at the University of Georgia. Now my dog is learning to walk again. When the most difficult postoperative period was over, we contacted your clinic again regarding a refund. The receptionist assured us the whole situation would be transferred to the manager, who would call us back as soon as possible. It's been a few weeks since then, and no one has called us. It's all about the money. These guys don't care about their job reputation and quality. They want money and zero responsibility. Please beware of this place and its "specialists." This is not about love for animals, alas.

I can’t say enough good things about this hospital. Amanda at the front desk has fielded, probably 1 million phone calls for me. Jordan has been our top coordination and info hub. Dr. Newton has been an absolute saint not only did she handle our diagnosis of cancer with grace and kindness. She has been our biggest advocate every step of the way. We were rushed- referred over to this hospital from our own amazing vet, and have been treated like nothing other than family since he walked into the door. Dr. Newton and her team were so commutative during the surgery and have been personally invested in his aftercare and treatment plan. While we are navigating the worst thing in our lives, I do feel an overwhelming sense of peace, knowing we have this team in our corner. Also. Justin. I can’t say enough good things….our dog has never inherently loved going to the vet, but when we are here…he lays on the floor, he is relaxed and he is excited to see Justin. Justin treats him like he is a true patient and not a dog, and make sure he has a Tempur-pedic bed, and water, and isn’t in a cage unnecessary, and hangs out with him. I’ve never had an incredibly long wait here however, I’ve always come in for an appointment not emergency, but I would wait all day for this team.

My dog had 2 TPLO surgeries with Dr. Newton. The first surgery went as it should have, Dr. Newton and the staff gave us and our dog great care. They were available to answer questions and I though I had found the perfect vet. But, not so fast....The second surgery had many complications - a total of 3 procedures had to be done, along with one emergency hospitalization after he was released from surgery earlier that day. A 6 week recovery turned into 3 months, and somewhere in the middle Dr. Newton and her vet tech became unavailable to answer questions. Discharge instructions were given to us in writing - any follow up questions went through the receptionist, who relayed the question to the doctor and then gave us an answer. During one visit, Dr. Newton actually raised her voice when she told us to "stop worrying about your dog and the way he is walking". After 3 months of rehab, our dog has finally recovered. I'm sure that medically, Dr. Newton did a great job. However, her bedside manner became non-existent and I would never ever take a pet somewhere that a doctor would not talk with its owner. I usually don't get on Google to complain. I delayed writing this review. However, after 6 months, I still believe this treatment was not warranted, and others need to know they have a 50/50 chance of getting good care.

I took my dog to an urgent care vet because he was acting off. She did a blood test and recommended either immediate euthanasia or finding a hospital who could treat him. I took him to All Pets immediately. They ended up saving his life that night and provided continuous treatment. The staff was fantastic to work with, especially Joey, Amanda, and Dr. Itkens. Unfortunately, my dogs health ended up going downhill two months later. I ultimately decided that I didn't want him to suffer, and made a final appointment with All Pets. I've had pets put to sleep before, and I can confidently say that All Pets provided the most respectful way to go for my boy to go. I'm grateful for all of the staff that did everything they could for my dog.

All Pets E&R saved my dogs life. I looked at several other top rated facilities to perform surgery and they were my pick. Honest, caring, and all the combined experience in veterinary medicine. I worked with Dr. Tison (a true hero in the field), Daniele, Nicole, Erika, Tara, Amanda and a few others and I cannot give enough gratitude to their safe-keeping and attention of my dog. Everybody wants what is best for their animal. These guys are that. Thank you so much for giving me another window of time with my best friend. Thank you for explaining the pros/cons truthfully and realistic. Thanks for all your skillful urgency. After my dogs spleen removal, which hosted an almost 7lb tumor 10" wide was eliminated-- he is back on the mountain trails, swimming in the lake, and acting 5 years younger. A huge cheers from the entire family, especially Eli! To everybody in the North Georgia area, save this place in your phone, you never know when you'll need them.
