How to Save Money at Animal Medical Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have to share my honest review about Dr.miller and awesome staff who safe my 1 year old binsy poo. First of all I wanted to say that Dr. Miller and staff are THE BEST in the whole state of Florida, ( no I think the whole entired world)!!! I say 😇. I can say that I was one of the lucky ones who found an awesome Doctor for my furry boo. Now to my true story, 😞 I started to notice that binsy was was crying every time he was in the littler box, and keept making alot of visits to the litter, then he would be cleaning his privates alot, then I started to notice blood, so I knew he had an UTI, I took him to palm city animal medical center and they saw that bins was trying to pee but couldn't and there was a trace of blood in the room, the vet told me, oh he's ok, his bladder is small and send me home with buprenorphine and paid 105.00 out the door, I musta been only there for 10 mins. Binsy was getting worst, he started to vomit and to hide only Bec he was in so much pain, and around 12:30 am that evening, I had to rush him to the pet emergency, and I begged them to save him imagine his bladder was going to burst. They gave me a price of almost 3,000.00, at the moment I couldn't get that kind of money but no money, no service, I asked them what can they do, they did drained him but what binsy needed we couldn't afford, and it was to stay 3 days in the animal hospital with stents insertion and drainage and flushing of the kidneys w meds and iv fluids. We were there until 5 am waiting for binsy, and hoping that they safe him. They charged us 400.00 and send us home with dilators to give him and antibiotics. Binsy bladder filled up again w no luck after visiting the litter 30 times, we brought him back to the pet emergency, and did the same procedure again for 255.00 it was the weekend when all these happened, that Monday we found the light at the end of the tunnel, we brought binsy to Dr. Miller and they were sooooooo caring and gentle with my kitty, they did unblock him again, I brought binsy home Bec I was facing financial difficulty at the time, but binsy got worst, actually he was going into kidney failure,. I called Dr Miller and she told me to bring binsy in immediately, binsy didn't have an appointment, but they squeeze him in. Binsy was dying 😢, they told me what he needed and that there was a 50/50 chance that he would make it, remember binsy was going into his 2 weeks now battle w urinary blockage an UTI, I put his life in her hands and staff. Binsy stay there for 3 days they gave him the care that he needed and took extremely great care of him for way less than what the pet emergency wanted or the palm city medical care, oh btw palm city medical care didn't even called me to see how binsy was doing. Dr. Miller and her staff went beyond their duties to save bins, they put their hearts into these, I immediately could tell that they have compassion for our furry friends more than other vet places I've been. Binsy has made a 💯 percent recovery. And thinking that the pet emergency was telling me that we needed to think bout putting him down 😩. But dr. Miller and staff fought for binsys life. These is from my heart I thank God for dr. Miller and staff for all the hard work they did to save my binsy poo, and I recommend them 100 % to anyone that's going through these w their furry companion. For now on I will be bringing my furry friends to Animal Medical Hospital , no where else, I finally found the light at the end of my tunnel. 💗
