How to Save Money at Magnolia Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Elle loves going here and visiting everyone! We had to go for an emergency and the doctor that took care of her was great! He got on her level and loved on her and made her comfortable! Our second emergency we called them and they sent us to UF emergency pets in Ocala and they were all great also. I feel their fees are fair and reasonable. The only thing I have ever had was when one of the vets wanted us to have our rottie fixed "because she was only going to get bigger and cost more to sedate" we had already done ALOT of research and decided to wait until she was 2 due to risks to her health in the future, but the vet did listen and respect our decision.

I wish I could give no stars, if you want a vet that cares about your pet and wants to help them then DO NOT take them here.I dont know who the new company is that took over but they are aweful. It's not your furbaby they care about but they sure want your money. They're not concerned about you or your babies care. If your furbaby needs surgery and has to stay overnight there isn't anyone there to care for them and they want you to sign a paper stating you won't hold them responsible if anything happens. Oh and they won't allow you to bring your baby home. Its either there with no one or emergency vet overnight. The rooms are filthy, when I asked to see where they do surgery I was told I couldn't. I wanted to make sure the operating room was clean. Because of my "attitude" I was asked not to come back. I guess caring about your furbaby and making sure they are getting the best treatment means I have an attitude lol. I did tell the office manager to kiss my @$$ on the way out. They don't have to worry because I won't ever go back. I will drive a bit further to micanopy Veterinary, I have never had a bad experience there. And their clinic is clean.

I was so impressed with Magnolia Animal Hospital. My dog had a tussle with a cat who wandered onto the property, and she had several puncture wounds and a cut under her eye. I contacted magnolia Animal Hopital through their app, which was really easy to use. They gave me an appointment for the next day, even though their appointment schedule said there wasn't one available for two days. Everyone in the office was super nice. The doctor was attentive and caring. The veterinary tech Kaylee was very patient with my hyper, over excited dog. The women in the front office were really nice and didn't make me feel bad when my dog, being very excited peed, all over the floor (so embarressing)! I'm really happy they accepted Kaya as a patient and will except my other animals as well. The office is clean and maintained. I thought the bill was extraordinarily reasonable, especially for an appointment I had made hours earlier. Overall, I was really happy to find Magnolia Animal Hopital. I would definitely recommend this facility and its employees to anyone. I've owned cats and dogs for as long as I can remember and have had the same veterinarian for so long. But since she retired, I had to choose another one. I am so grateful and happy. I made the right choice. Definitely a five star recommendation from this customer. Thank you guys! I appreciate you making both myself and my dog feel better.

I hope I had a pictured the vet Dr. Nelson attending my fur baby Tyson. He was so kind with my big boy. The Dr. literally threw himself on the floor to take care of him. 92 lbs. and all, Dr. grabbed him and took him for all the testing's. The personnel were professional, kind, empathic, and sweet with my big boy. Very clean place too. Dr. gave us clear concise scenarios, spoke sincere and gave us options. My big boy was so lethargic and couldn't walk. Today lifting his head and even gave us some steps to go outside and do his business. Glad I went to the Magnolia Animal Hospital. I highly recommend.
