How to Save Money at VCA Knowles Central Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am writing on behalf of Cookie Alphonse. Jackie’s dog had surgery at another hospital and got worse day after day , she decided to seek another doctor and doctor David Wise was recommended to her by a friend. Doctor Wise is an absolute professional, who is not only brilliant , skilled but kind, humble and extremely conscientious and truly cares for his patients. The staff at this hospital is wonderful all of them truly care and not just doing a job. They show patience, compassion, respect and are very attentive and go above and beyond to help. The technicians are on a level of excellence that we have never seen anywhere, they’re true professional whom you can trust. And Again doctor David Wise is an incredible man of medicine that saves lives and really cares and loves his patients. The manager and her staff are amazing. If you have to wait then wait because the level of care and attention you will receive you and your baby is worth it. They are busy because they are excellent. Hope doctor David Wise gets to read this because words can never express our gratitude to him, he is a blessing from God to anyone he cares for.

This location is right off the north Florida Turnpike. The parking lot is small so you may need to drive through the parking lot to the back and park on the street. I brought my dauschund here 2 days ago in heart failure, her lungs were full of fluid, she was drowning. There is a $600 upfront fee for an emergency. They took her right away to the back as I sat in the waiting room. Once I was able to go see her, she had been placed in a kennel with flowing oxygen. She stayed the night and into the next day, almost a whole 24 hours. She was able to be weened off of oxygen and will now be on heart meds for the remainder of her life. She’s back home and recovering. The staff at VCA Knowles was there for my baby girl Roxy when she needed it most. Dr. Josie H. was great and sympathetic. They gave me an estimate and we worked together on it so that Roxy still got the care she needed while lowering the costs a little bit. I am grateful for their quick responsive actions, their professionalism and their compassion. I would definitely come back 💯

My puppy Zion was rescued & we took her to VCA Knowles. She was cared for by Natalie, Anabella, Dorian and Lily. I truly appreciate the care given to her. The staff is amazing. I took her back for a procedure and follow up. I love how they care for my Zion.

This clinic goes over and beyond for your pet. If I can give 10 stars I would. From walking into the lobby to the patient care they give to your pets. They treat them as if it’s their own fur babies. Anabella from icu went beyond for my baby. So I know she would for yours. Thank you for doing what you guys do.

I brought my dog in for a possible severe heat stroke . I was in panic mode, and as soon as I walked in the staff received me and took my dog immediately. GABY took my dog and rushed her to inmediate care. Service like this is PRICELESS. The veterinarian took the time to explain everything thoroughly. THANK YOU for treating my dog with the urgency and professionalism that your team did!
