My girl Lilly, 11 years old needed help crossing over the rainbow bridge. Her health had been declining for the last several days. We had made an appointment for an in home euthanasia service for Tuesday, 07/21/2026. No chance, she was declining fast and was not doing well Sunday evening. We decided to take her to Viscaya, Monday, 07/20/2026, since we had been going there with her and all our rescues for the longest time. After we were placed in our room the tech came in to to bring her to the back to place the IV catheter. I felt uneasy letting her go, she was uncomfortable and in pain and the last thing I wanted was for her to be scared. The tech took forever. When she was finally back in the room with us the Doctor came in to administer the sedative. It was not working, the IV catheter was placed too high and it was leaking. The tech came back to take her again this time I said no, I did not want to be apart from her again. He told me there was better light in the back and I could go with her. My poor baby was in pain, struggling and terrified as they held her down and pinned her down to put in the IV catheter for a second time. All I could do was stand there and tell her it was going to be ok. She looked at me terrified, she struggled for what it felt an eternity. She looked at me and screamed in agony and collapsed. She died, in pain, terrified and struggling in the arms of a stranger instead of mine. She was the best puppy and the best soul and she did not deserve to die that way. She was supposed to die in my arms peacefully. I was supposed to hold her and comfort her in her last moments with us. Instead she suffered and I will always regret and will never forgive myself from bringing her to Viscaya. I will never forget how much she suffered. She did not deserve to die that way. Our hearts are broken in a million pieces.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. My dog has had liver cancer for god knows how long and they never told us anything, me and my parents knew something was wrong and we asked them to do a check up on our dog and they said everything was fine. They kept having me and my parents come in to give him random medicine and saying it’s “allergies” knowing he had cancer and now it’s too late and we have to schedule a date to put him down. Please take your pets somewhere that’ll help you fight your pets sickness ahead of time so you don’t have to feel grief crashing down on you in mere seconds.

You would be hard pressed to find better quality service, staff is excellent, 1 minor issue, they don't always return phone calls or messages, keep calling back. They take excellent care of my furbabies.

I wanted to take a moment to share our amazing experience at the Viscaya Prado Vet at 1141 Country Club Blvd. From our warm and friendly check-in with Lee, to our appointment with Melissa and Dr. Blowers, who were both incredibly kind, gentle with our golden retriever, and exceptionally knowledgeable, everything was wonderful! Having recently relocated, I was nervous about finding a new vet, but this turned out to be the best experience we've ever had at a veterinary hospital from start to finish. Even the team member who helped us at checkout was so pleasant and welcoming. I'm so grateful to the entire team for taking such great care of our boy and making our family feel so at home. Our dog boarder recommended this vet, and I'm so glad she did!

I have been bringing my 2 Senior Minpins, Bella & Daisy to Viscaya Prado since we moved here 10 years ago. The compassion and great medical care they have given my furbabies is top notch! Dr. Mehlo as well as the rest of the doctor's, vet techs & staff have saved my girls many times. I can't express my appreciation to this practice. My girls wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for the great staff at Viscaya Prado. I'd give 19 stars if I could.
