How to Save Money at HomeVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Jeff is a gift. He has such a deeper insight to my dog's health than I ever could have imagined. He is a genuine healer and works hard to really get to know your pet. His use of homeopathy has been incredibly helpful and has allowed my dog to thrive. I can't recommend him enough!

If your pets are family members as mine are, you want the best care possible for them. When only the best is good enough, you go to Dr. Feinman. He is kind, caring, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about helping our animal friends live long, happy lives through homeopathy and other non- suppressive treatments. Unlike traditional or "western" medicine, which aims to suppress symptoms of disease, Dr. Jeff's approach helps the animal's body heal itself, as nature intends. Years ago, when my then 12 year old dog was diagnosed with an autoimmune anemia, and given a very poor prognosis and a treatment plan of drugs with a multitude of harmful side- effects, I turned to Dr. Jeff. With 1 well- chosen homeopathic remedy, he turned my dog around and saved his life. I have continued to use Dr. Jeff as my primary vet for all of my animals since, and, as a pet care professional myself, have recommended him to all of my friends and clients.

After being given antibiotics at the emergency clinic for his kennel cough, Dylan was still coughing and his energy was low. After one of Dr. Feinmans doses he was literally leaping and running and back to his joyous self! Dr. Feinman has been keeping my animals happy and healthy for more years than I can count. He's the best!

We decided to pursue homeopathic medicine for our dog's liver disease when conventional treatments weren't yielding results and we believe were actually making him sicker. Dr. Jeff came highly recommended to us, so we made the drive down to Connecticut from Boston for our first appointment. I did not know much about homeopathic medicine but soon learned that it takes careful listening, observation, record-keeping, and patience. Dr. Jeff has all of these skills in spades, so we could tell we were in very capable hands. We committed to the process of log-keeping, observing any and all changes in our dog (physical, emotional, and behavioral), and reporting regularly to Dr. Jeff, and we have been quite impressed with the changes we've seen. Sometimes the changes don't alway seem "good" initially, but they reveal valuable information about the healing progress we are making and help inform next steps. We have been with Dr. Jeff for over a year and a half, and our dog is doing quite well, physically and behaviorally. He is off all but one of his conventional suppressive medications, and we have been able to decrease the final one to nearly nothing and hope to be off that soon as well. Dr. Jeff is responsive to our email updates, available for phone consults, a wealth of knowledge, and a pleasure to speak with. We have never second-guessed our decision to follow this path, as we know that in the long run it is the best thing for our dog's well-being and health. We highly recommend Dr. Jeff.

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Jeff for several years. We are strong believers in working with a dog's immune system, rather than against it, and for that homeopathy is second to none. We sought Dr. Jeff out because of his exceptional training and certification in veterinary homeopathy. In addition to his training, he is thoughtful and thorough, both necessary skills for a good homeopath. People ask me why we drive an hour for a vet appointment when we have a local vet 5 minutes away. Our local vet offers drugs and quick fixes. We want to build longterm health in our dogs and we prefer to avoid chemical drugs if there is a solid alternative. There is! It's homeopathy and our dogs are proof that it works. After a year with Dr. Jeff, our rescue dog hasn't had a seizure in over three months. When she came to us, she sometimes had two a day. Dr. Jeff offers natural, non-toxic, quality care and our experiences with him have all been positive. It is worth the drive to see him!
