How to Save Money at United Veterinary Center Norwalk
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've been bringing my Pomeranian to Untided Veterinary since 2018 and should have rated this place a long time ago. The reason I'm doing it now is because I recently realized just how important it is to have a genuine and reliable vet after hearing about a friend's bad experience elsewhere. Dr. Pete has been wonderful, and the entire staff is great. Their office is also very nice. Dr. Pete has been incredibly helpful, teaching us about our dog and consulting with us to ensure we're aware of all our options. He's never been pushy about vaccines except the ones that are really necessary ,which we appreciate. They've always been flexible with appointments, even accommodating us when they were fully booked. I highly recommend Untided Veterinary. Thank you for always taking care of Klaus!

Dr. Pete Michalek was amazing with Gizmo (netherland dwarf rabbit). Took time and patience to examine him so he wouldn’t be stressed and answer all my questions. The lady at the front desk is super friendly as soon as you walk in. The offices are clean and very well aired (considering the hot temperatures outside). 2nd time going for a wellness check since 2020 and definitely continuing with them!

Dr. Pete to the rescue! I swear if I hadn’t brought my girl to see Dr. Pete, she might not be with me today. I brought my Havanese in to see Dr. Pete after my local Vet misdiagnosed her with an upset stomach. Dr. Pete reviewed her medical records and moved quickly into action. He saved my girls life (literally). Post surgery, she now has more energy than she ever has. My 8 year old girl can now keep up with my 1 year old pup. I owe a huge thank you to Dr. Pete and the entire staff for providing quality care and support to me and my dog. (The video below shows how completely different and better she is post her surgery)

Today I had a very disappointing experience with this veterinary service that I feel compelled to share, particularly for those traveling with service animals. I needed to travel to Aruba with my service dog and went online to find a USDA accredited veterinarian. I called this place 3 weeks prior to my travel date to ensure my dog's certification could be completed in the necessary timeframe. The receptionist assured me it would be done within the required 10 days before travel. However, upon arriving for my appointment, I was met with the most rude and condescending veterinarian I have ever encountered. Not only was he 30 minutes late, but his first words were, "I'm letting you know that even though you are paying close to $500, I can't guarantee your paperwork will be ready on time." This was shocking and disturbing, especially since I had called three weeks in advance and was assured that everything would be handled properly. It turned out that this vet was not even registered online to offer this service, and he expected me to mail the paperwork via UPS. When I expressed my frustration about the misleading information I received, he simply shrugged it off, saying, "Well, I can't do anything about what happened three weeks ago." His lack of compassion and dismissive attitude were glaringly evident. To make matters worse, he handed me a list of other vets who were registered like him and told me to call them. He needed to fill out a simple two-page certification form based on my dog's vaccination and microchip information—a task that was very straightforward. Despite this, he claimed he needed five days to process it because he was too busy and Monday was a holiday. This entire experience was extremely disheartening, and I want to warn others who are traveling with service animals to be cautious when choosing a veterinarian for such important documentation. The lack of professionalism and empathy from this particular vet was appalling, and I hope this review helps others avoid a similar situation. PD: I had an exceptional experience with Banfield Pet Hospital. After leaving the office on a Friday, I urgently needed an appointment for my pet's international health certificate. Despite it being Memorial Day weekend, Banfield was able to schedule me for Monday, which was a lifesaver. The entire process was seamless, with paperwork handled efficiently online, ensuring everything was approved in time for my travel plans. For anyone needing international health certificates, especially if your dog is a certified service animal (you'll even get a state discount), I highly recommend Banfield Pet Hospital in Stamford. Their professionalism and customer service truly exceeded my expectations.

I visited UVC with my new pup several times and have had nothing but an exceptional experience. Very kind, caring and professional staff. Dr. Pete is extremely honest, thorough and has a great way of explaining and addressing your concerns/everything about your pet!
