How to Save Money at Pets in Motion Mobile Acupuncture

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I don't have enough good things to say about Dr. Staples! My dog is 14 years old and had a bad limp for about 6 months. She started acupuncture a few months and has improved drastically. She's also battled an autoimmune diseases for the last ~7 years of her life. I swear that acupuncture has improved her overall health. Dr. Staples is patient and loving and passionate about the animals she treats! Highly recommend!!

Our amazing experience with Dr Sharon Staples / Pets in Motion Mobile Acupuncture, began almost two years ago in February of 2023. Our 11 1/2 year old German Shepherd, Sligo, was experiencing severe pain in his right hip. He was unable to get up without our help. We took him to the vet where xrays of the hip looked normal. We treated him with pain meds and he was still unable to get up on his own and just seemed to be failing. Having experienced acupuncture treatments myself, I thought maybe Sligo would experience some relief with that type of treatment. After some research we found Dr Sharon! Sharon came to our house and did a thorough exam of Sligo before beginning his acupuncture treatment. Sligo was completely at ease, having no idea he was "at the vet"! The needles didn't bother him at all because he loved Sharon and her "magic treats"! Sharon left after about a 2 hour visit. Sligo was up and walking around within a 1/2 hour of her leaving. It was so wonderful to see him feeling some relief from that pain! Since that first treatment, we have continued having Dr Sharon treat both Sligo and his littermate, Darby, once a month. Our pups are now 13 1/2 years old and it is so nice to know that their health can be supported through acupuncture rather than strictly pain meds, etc. And, all in our home alleviating the stressful visits to the vet's office! We highly recommend Pets in Motion and Dr Sharon. She is an experienced veterinarian, professional, extremely knowledgeable, caring, passionate about her work, and all around great human and truly loves working with animals. She will strive to find ways to support your pet's health and overall well being. Do yourself and your pet(s) a favor and have Dr Sharon Staples make a visit to your house!

The benefits that acupuncture treatments have given Bella are amazing. She is moving better, limping less, going on walks and enjoys spending time on the deck with our family. Dr. Staples is compassionate and knowledgeable. Providing acupuncture in our home allows Bella to remain calm and relaxed during treatments. Pets in Motion has made a huge difference in our lives.

I first met Dr. Staples when she came to our home to help my French Bulldog, Tux, who was having a mild IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) flare up. Acupuncture helped to relieve his pain and get him back to his normal self. We are currently set up on a maintenance plan and he is doing wonderful! When another one of our Frenchies, Nori, suddenly became very painful, completely lost use of her hind legs and became incontinent, I immediately reached out to Dr. Staples. I was looking for an option besides an MRI and possibly surgery or euthanasia. Dr. Staples came over and put together a conservative treatment plan that included acupuncture and strict kennel rest. Dr. Staples answered every question I had and made things as stress free for both Nori and myself as possible. Nori loves when Dr Staples comes to visit and Tux gets jealous, so Dr. Staples has to say hi to him, too! Nori’s progress throughout her healing journey has been measured in baby steps, but they have all been baby steps forward. I am very happy to report that Nori is well on her way to being able to walk again! Thank you, Dr. Staples, for all of your help with our fur kids. We are so thankful we found you!

Acupuncture has worked wonders for my 11-year-old dog’s back and shoulder pain. After just a couple sessions, she was able to take long walks again and wanting to play! Her quality of life has improved so much I plan to continue acupuncture for the rest of her days. Dr Staples is an incredibly knowledgeable and kind vet. My dog absolutely loves her and greets her like family when she arrives. I really appreciate that she comes to our home. It's much more relaxing for my dog and convenient!
