How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Austin Veterinary Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

We brought a female lab that had a litter about 6 months ago in to be spayed. This dog has been battling skin issues since her litter. She refused to spay the lab because she was already struggling with a skin dryness and severe itching. Most folks would have taken the money. Dr. Austin put her on steroids and said come back later. She cares more about the animal then the money. That’s the kinda bet you want. Cheers.

Dr. Austin is a great vet for our little farm. She has been available for us for emergencies as well as regular annual care. She has always followed up on sick animals to make sure we have enough meds and that things are progressing positively. She has such a big heart and is compassionate but gives you all the details you need to care for your animals. 10/10 recommend her for your animals big or small!

Dr. Austin was incredible. She came out on a weekend, helped my horse, was patient and showed genuine kindness. I can't say enough good things about my experience with her. She was very responsive from when I first called her until the time she left our property!

Dr. Austin is AMAZING!! We had a cat move into our barn that needed care and Dr. Austin went above and beyond to help this cat out. Thanks to Dr. Austin this cat will have a home for the rest of her life, and the horses have their friend back! I can't thank her enough, and will be utilizing Dr. Austin's skills for well care visits in the future instead of emergency visitsl
