How to Save Money at Goodheart Animal Health Center - Lowry
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

THE BEST VET EVER! If I could give 10 stars to Goodheart Lowry, Dr. Pochman, and his team I absolutely would! Dr. Pochman was my vet at a previous practice (less than 1 mile from my house) and I made the decision to follow him across town (30 minute drive) because I like and trust him as a vet. The experience at GH was top tier! I don’t want to spoil any secrets, but my cats were totally relaxed while there because of their “secret sauce” on keeping cats calm and cuddly while being examined. Today I got my follow up call on bloodwork from Dr. Pochman and it 1000% reaffirmed that I made the right decision to follow him across town to his practice. He is an amazing vet and has built an amazing team.

Dr. Pochman — and all the staff I encountered — were warm and caring, and the space itself is bright and inviting. It’s clear they want the humans and pets who come through there to be comfortable. Dr. Pochman was very knowledgeable and thorough, and had a great bedside manner with my dog. he talked me through some potential options/solutions based on my priorities, which was very helpful. I appreciated the summary/notes I was emailed after the appointment. They have also since my appointment reached out to follow up. I’m very grateful that my neighbor recommended them to me!

I just wanted to share my wonderful experience at the Goodheart Lowry location. From the receptionist, to the vet tech and to Dr. Frost- all were so kind not only to me but to my cat Lily. They were gentle and showed her love. Dr. Frost was patient and explained in detail how I could help Lily (keeping in mind concerns I had already experienced with her). He also wrote a thorough report on his findings. I was even offered a free drink, a water bottle and a kitty tag upon my arrival! I’d absolutely return to this office! Thanks for taking such great care of us!

We are so grateful we found Dr. Frost. We had previously gone to a different veterinarian in Denver, but when our puppy suddenly got sick and we were worried he may have swallowed a rock, we stumbled upon Goodheart Lowry because they happened to have a last-minute opening. We were incredibly nervous — our puppy Bubba was only about five months old, and this was our first big scare as new dog parents. We got so lucky with Dr. Frost. He is absolutely amazing. Not only does he genuinely care about Bubba and all animals, but he truly cared about us as Bubba’s parents too. He followed up with us, checked in, and even texted — which meant the world to us during such a stressful time. Thank you, Dr. Frost — you are truly incredible.

Amazing veterinary team and literally the best veterinary care! Dr. Pochman and his team are caring and professional and their new hospital is beautiful. My dogs and I were greeted warmly when we arrived and were provided with great service and attention throughout our visit, including lots of treats for the dogs! Tons of tail wagging while we were there!! Like others that have posted, I have been taking my pets to Dr. Pochman for years, and followed him from other hospitals. He possesses the unique combination of being a great veterinarian from a medical perspective, providing practical and solution-oriented recommendations, AND he is genuinely compassionate and caring. Go see him…he is the best!!
