How to Save Money at Coyote Ridge Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a wonderful experience today at Coyote Ridge! My dog max had a lingering cough that wouldn’t do away, and after not getting answers at another vet, I came to see Dr Fauron and she did a fantastic job at looking at all his previous scans and bloodwork, and looked further into what was going on with my pup and I was so appreciative. She also made me feel really at home, and the receptionists and team were super awesome. I will now be coming to this vet for all appointments for both of my dogs as it is definitely worth the two hour round trip!

We just went through the scary experience of one of our dogs being bit by a rattle snake. Thank goodness we took him to Coyote ridge! Our Anatolian/ Great Pyrenees, Arlo, escaped our fenced yard and was running around in a vacant field. He wasn’t gone long and I was just relieved he wasn’t hit by a car. However, about 20 minutes later I noticed his face start swelling up and he seemed like he was in pain. I immediately drove him to Coyote Ridge in Berthoud. Once we arrived Dr Fauron took the time to assess whether we were dealing with a snake bite or insect sting by taking blood. Once she confirmed it was a snake bite the team quickly administered anti-venom and pain meds. After an afternoon in their care Arlo was looking so much better and he came home to rest. Two days later and he’s back to his regular self. Coyote Ridge has been our regular vet for several years, and we have always been happy with them. This experience just reinforced how professional, prepared, and friendly they are. Watch out for rattle snakes folks! This wasn’t the first snake bite Coyote Ridge has seen this season, and apparently CSU has seen a ton lately as well.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I cannot say enough good things about this veterinary office! We recently had our dog neutered here, and the entire experience was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. The staff made us feel so comfortable and confident every step of the way. They explained the procedure clearly, answered all of our questions with patience and kindness, and treated our pup like he was their own. On surgery day, they were professional and compassionate, keeping us updated and making sure our boy was safe and cared for. The recovery instructions were thorough and easy to follow, and they even checked in afterward to make sure everything was going smoothly. Our dog bounced back quickly, which is a true testament to the excellent care he received. It’s rare to find a vet team that combines skill, compassion, and genuine love for animals so seamlessly. We are beyond grateful and wouldn’t trust anyone else with our pets! Highly recommend this office to anyone looking for the best possible care.

I can’t say enough good things about Coyote Ridge Vet Clinic. They recently performed surgery on my foster dog, Colby, to remove undescended testicles — a more complex procedure than a routine neuter — and they went above and beyond the standard of care at every step. They even gave me a “body suit” that negated the need for him to wear the dreaded cone. I’d never seen one of those before. Dr. Techler and Dr. Miller were both incredible — skilled, compassionate, and clearly dedicated to doing what’s best for their patients. The entire staff was just as wonderful: supportive, kind, and communicative throughout the process. You can tell this clinic truly cares — not just about the animals, but about the people who love them. As someone who fosters for a local rescue, I’m also deeply grateful for the way Coyote Ridge works with our group. Their generosity and partnership say a lot about their values. If you’re looking for a vet clinic where your pet will be treated like family, this is the place!

Coyote Ridge is, by far, the best veterinary practice I’ve ever been to. In the past year, Albane and her team have helped me navigate multiple health concerns with both my 10 year old German shepherd, and most recently, my cat, Murphy. Beyond providing exceptional care for both Ulf and Murphy, she and her team provide incredible customer service and treat their clients with empathy, compassion and kindness. We feel like Coyote Ridge are family friends, and I cannot recommend them enough.
