How to Save Money at Animal Behavior College

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

So, I started my program back in January of 2023 and I was very wary of doing an online certification course for anything, but on impulse, I decided I needed to DO something to get moving on with my life, be successful, and all that, that I joined up with ABC after some digging around. The site itself is very easy to navigate, and the program managers they give you are kind and knowledgeable and always, always willing to answer your questions. They'd even check up on your progress between exams which I loved. I have completed all exams at this point and am about to start the last phase - the externship. Nervous but super excited. I am happy with my progress and ready to get some hands-on training.

I started this journey just a couple months ago, and I am glad I picked Animal Behavior College. My experience so far with Animal Behavior College has been top notch. There are so many courses available. Curriculum seems well thought out and put together in a way to help you learn material at my own pace. I work full time (40-50hrs/wk) and it has been easy to study in the evenings and weekend while still having a home life. Dog obedience and training has been a dream of mine for years. I finally took steps needed to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and I am excited to complete the course work and fulfill a longtime dream. The materials in courses are packed with information and knowledge from experts in the field. Text is easy to follow and review sections really provide a way to retain what you have just learned in each section. Staff has been polite and friendly as well as knowledgeable about the courses they offer. I could not ask for a better experience while learning. THANK YOU!!!!

Animal behavior college was so easy to get started. They did everything pretty much for me. I have just completed stage nine. All I have left is my externship and then I’ll be finished! The dog grooming program has been great. Surprisingly ABC has kept me interested and that’s not an easy task.

Animal behavior college is excellent in providing a well -rounded education and it basically any career choice you choose. Last year I done veterinarian assistant this year. I signed up for the obedience dog training program. I highly recommend this program if you want to learn from home at a self- pace program. It allows me to do all of the things I like to do in my free time as well as work and go to school. I couldn't recommend them enough after being enrolled into programs in the future I wouldn't be against enrolling in a third. I actually have a third enrollment picked out after I finished the second program I'm currently doing ☺️ very easy enrollment process. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Teachers can't say enough good things about them

My experience with ABC has been amazing so far! Admissions was a breeze. My counselor answered any and all questions thoroughly. I knew exactly what to expect and was expected of me. I felt that tuition was very reasonable for all of the information, support, and experience that the Dog Obedience Trainer program provides. I am currently working through the coursework portion of the program and love every second of it. The convenience to continue working my full time job is also great. I look forward to becoming a certified dog trainer and hopefully starting my own business one day. Thank you to ABC for giving me the tools necessary to make my dreams one step closer to reality.
