How to Save on Veterinary Costs at St Helena Veterinary Hospital
Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

We have been very happy with Dr. Gold and all the staff. We have seen him several times when our dog was sick and he has never recommended the most expensive treatment. I am a wait and see kind of mom, and I feel as though he respects that and gives me options. We also bring our dog in for monthly nail trimmings. Unlike a groomer, we make an appointment and the clippings are quick and reasonably priced. The staff is so friendly and really gentle and knowledgeable. This is our vet forever!

Dr. Gold is an excellent veterinarian and a really good person. I have known him for almost 30 years and he does a great job. He knows a whole lot about veterinary medicine. If he doesn't know something he will find someone who does. He's a people person- a really good communicator. Very generous of heart- he care about people and their animals. I highly recommend Dr. Gold and St Helena Vet.

Great vet, we saw him for a second opinion and he really makes an effort to understand your animal. We were told our dog would need to have surgery immediately at our original vet (after giving him 4 x-rays; at least two of which were unnecessary in our opinion) in spite of a history of passing/throwing-up objects and his general good/normal disposition. Dr. Gold gave us the knowledge and confidence to monitor him and eventually our dog threw-up the object, without the need for surgery, or even x-rays. His office also had excellent availability for urgent calls and regular checkups. I would highly recommend Dr. Gold to anyone with a pet that is looking for someone who takes the time to get to know your animal on an individual basis and doesn’t immediately call for treatments that symptoms don’t necessarily warrant. We will be sticking with Dr. Gold for the future care of our pet. TL;DR First vet recommended immediate surgery, Dr. Gold recommended monitoring; dog threw-up object about two months later; we recommend Dr. Gold.

Dr. Gold and his staff are amazing, he really cares for our pets and always takes his time with them. I drive from Napa and couldn't imagine taking my animals anywhere else. I would and have recommended him to everyone I know who has pets.
