How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Veterinary Eye Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I cannot thank Dr. Sheahan and the entire team at Veterinary Eye Clinic enough for the exceptional care they’ve given my senior Samoyed. As a diabetic dog, he developed cataracts and eventually went blind. Two years ago, Dr. Sheahan performed cataract surgery, and the results were truly life-changing—my dog regained his vision, energy, and happiness. More recently, he developed Horner’s Syndrome, and once again, Dr. Sheahan was thorough, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Thanks to her expert care and close follow-up, my dog has now fully recovered from Horner’s as well. Dr. Sheahan is not only a highly skilled veterinary ophthalmologist, but also someone who treats both pets and their owners with genuine compassion. Her calm, reassuring demeanor, attention to detail, and ability to clearly explain complex conditions make her truly outstanding. The entire staff at Veterinary Eye Clinic is equally kind, professional, and supportive. They treat every patient like family, and I always felt my dog was in the best possible hands. If your pet is facing an eye condition, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Sheahan and her team. Their dedication and expertise have made all the difference for my beloved dog.

The gold standard of veterinary care. From the first night I brought my dog Winter in for an emergency after-hours visit with Dr. Sheahan and at each visit since, the staff has been nothing but friendly, caring, patient, and supportive. They always take the time to explain everything thoroughly answer all of your questions, and you can tell they genuinely care about every single one of their patients and their humans. Winter ended up needing to have her eye removed, and because of Dr. Sheahan and Renee, I was able to rest easy knowing she was in the best hands. I felt fully supported through the entire process. I don’t live locally, but I gladly make the drive to see them. If you’re looking for an ophthalmologist for your pet, I highly recommend Dr. Sheahan and her team.

Dr. Sheahan and the staff at Veterinary Eye Clinic Pomona have been incredible. Everyone is so nice, kind, compassionate and caring. Dr. Sheahan is very thorough in her exams and explanations of diagnosis and treatment. Our boy Ryder, came to see Dr. Sheahan at the Alhambra location after his diabetes diagnosis and then we followed her to the new location in Pomona where he ultimately had cataract surgery. The surgery was a success but our boy needed some extra care with recovery because of his tummy issues and diabetes. I can’t thank Dr. Sheahan enough for going above and beyond holding our hand (and paws) as we navigated the recovery journey. She was incredibly caring and provided the extra attention we needed to get through it, all while being so understanding of our special needs (doggie and fur mama). The staff is always so friendly and caring, greeting with smiles and quick to respond whenever we needed to get a hold of the doctor or medical staff. Plus I love Alexandria’s daily jokes on the front desk! 😂 I’m grateful to have found such a great team to guide us on this journey of managing our dog’s vision through his diabetes diagnosis and cataract surgery. If you’re ever in need of a caring veterinary eye doctor, Dr. Sheahan and staff at VEC Pomona will have you covered. Thank you for everything! ❤️ 🐶 👀 🙏

Dr. Ruby Goldenberg was the doctor who helped my dog. She was amazing. She accommodated us to be seen right away for an emergency. She explained everything in detail and was very caring to my dog.

Thank goodness for the cancelation! Thank you Nick for getting us in! Everyone was professional and polite. As far as my cats medical issue goes...too soon to know what caused this, sometimes all you can do are tests and start basic treatment. Hope for the best.
