How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Slate Creek Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

I’ve had a really good experience with Slate Creek a few times now. They are all very nice and caring, and have been able to squeeze me in on short notice. I appreciate how they try to work with you to find a plan that best fits your situation, and I never feel rushed out of there.

Brought my cat here 2 weeks ago with blatant signs of a urinary issue. The vet told me he probably had anxiety, and she could prescribe him Prozac. I asked her to please draw and test his urine anyway, which she did. They charged me $200 and sent us home. The vet called me the next week to say everything was fine and offered Prozac again. A week goes by, and my cat is experiencing the same issues. I brought him to Placerville Animal Wellness on Placerville Drive, and the vet there knew immediately that there was a blockage in his bladder. PAW cleared the blockage and sent us home with antibiotics for nearly the same cost. My cat could have died if I'd trusted Slate Creek. What a waste of valuable time.
