How to Save Money at Peaceful Pathways In-Home Pet Hospice and Euthanasia
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am so grateful that I found Dr. Winnick to help me say goodbye to my best pal George. She was able to come see us the next day, which I was so thankful for. We communicated efficiently via text/email which was much easier than a phone call for me in those moments. She helped George with such care and skill so that he was able to have a peaceful last few moments in his own bed. I didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable and was able to focus entirely on saying goodbye. George had a lot of anxiety at the vet's office, so I'm so glad he could spend his last few moments with me in his cozy bed eating chicken nuggets. I'd recommend Peaceful Pathways to anyone and everyone during this difficult time.

Dr. Winnick is so kind and caring. She comes in as an empath and immediately doesn’t feel like a stranger. I think it’s because she knows how hard this process is. She was incredibly reassuring of the process from start to end and gently walked me through every step. She let ample time for me and my dog to say goodbye to me beloved bunny. Dr. Winnick followed up with a beautiful handwritten letter and the cremated remains were efficiently and beautifully packaged back to me. Thank you for making this process so much easier than it could have been. It wasn’t traumatic. It was just sad.

We had to make the extremely difficult decision to let our 18.5 year old baby Hunter go. Dr Winnick was wonderful and very compassionate. She explained everything thoroughly. She even put a little blanket over the syringe so we wouldn't see the injection happen. Once our boy crossed over to the rainbow ridge she let us say goodbye for a bit longer and made a clay pawprint right then and there. God forbid I see myself in this situation again- I would definitely use her services again.

My 10 year old pup had been struggling for a few weeks. It was clear he was in pain and was ready to be done with treatments and to just be at peace. The days leading up to the decision to move forward with at home euthanasia were, well, torture. So many conflicting emotions about not saying goodbye too soon or too late. I reached out to Dr. Jenn Winnick over the weekend for a Pet Assessment. Even though she was closed and didn't work Sunday's, she responded immediately. She reviewed his medical records in detail as well as the videos I submitted and replied with a detailed compassionate assessment. This helped bring everything into focus and help me make the most caring decision to move forward with Murphy's goodbye. I have unfortunately had to euthanize my last dog and was present for an at home euthanasia with my parents. My last dog was in the ICU and I had to say goodbye in the hospital. It was traumatic, he was anxious and scared during the procedure. For my parents dog the at home provider wasn't very compassionate and it left emotional scars on the family as a result. What I can tell you with absolute certainty is how loving and compassionate Dr. Jenn Winnick is throughout the process. She was loving on Murphy, gave us as much time as we needed to be with him and gave us space to grieve once he had passed. Deciding to euthanize is a difficult decision but it is the kindest gift you can give your loved one when the time comes. Peaceful Pathways was amazing during this difficult time and I cannot thank Dr. Winnick enough for how she handled everything.

After our senior kitty's sudden stroke, we had to make the difficult decision to put her down the morning of xmas eve. Despite the last minute appointment on a holiday, Dr. Winnick so graciously accommodated us and treated our girl with utmost respect. Thanks to Peaceful Pathways, Mysti's last moments were spent enjoying a yummy treat in her favorite chair surrounded by all of the people she loved/was loved by~
