How to Save Money at Aqua Animal Care Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They rehabbed my golden retriever back to full life and strength! I am so, so, so incredibly grateful to the wonderful doctors and staff at Aqua Animal Care. It was a very, very long journey to figure out what was wrong with my baby (biceps tenosynovitis), and I was in despair. I thought she would never be her full self. After some terrible interactions with other San Diego doctors and physical therapists, I reached out to Aqua Animal Care as my last desperate attempt to find anyone who could help. I am so glad I did. I cannot say enough good things about the level of care and love they showed both me and my baby. We followed a solid four-month physical therapy plan, which I did with her every day, and she graduated back at full strength. I wish they could see her running and jumping like her full self again! I will forever be grateful for their love, care, and truly awesome holistic approach to recovery. My girl absolutely LOVED going in for her sessions, which says a lot. Thank you so, so much, Aqua Animal Care!

My dog Athena was diagnosed with a spinal cord injury in October, and physical therapy was recommended to regain function in her back legs. The neurologist at the emergency vet said it could be a year or so to bring her up to 95%. Aqua animal care center was recommended to me by my normal vet as well as the neurologist, and they were not wrong. After only a couple of months, Athena could take walks again. By January she was playing, and now it’s March and she is having zoomies, going on long walks, standing on her hind legs to give hugs, and back to 99%. The care and expertise here is top notch, and every person we have worked with or talked to from the front staff to the doctors have been kind, friendly, affectionate with my girl, and produced amazing results. I am so grateful for each and every one of you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you

I took my exotic bird Hanna here when I had a scheduled appointment for her on Tuesday and unfortunately she passed on Monday. I wanted to do an autopsy to see what happened and they were so loving and gracious to my loss. The doctor was incredible and called me himself to break down everything that was going on with her. I felt so much relief, after knowing what was going on with her and her passing. After the experience, I am now taking all of my animals here and they have been just wonderful. Thank you for your loving care 🙏❤️

My 8 year old Yellow Lab has elbow dysplasia and LOVES going to Aqua to run in the underwater treadmill! The staff at Aqua treats my dog like their own. After a few months my dog runs around with his much younger new sibling like he did when he was a puppy!!! Completely worth every penny!

My 15yo, 70lb husky-chow-collie mix would probably be unable to walk anymore if not for this excellent facility and their expert team. Because of his weekly sessions on the underwater treadmill and his monthly chiropractic adjustment, my old boy is still able to hike the trails with me daily. I'm very grateful 🙏 for their work!
