How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Mariposa Equine Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We have used this vet before and she was great. We had nothing but cool things to say about her. We felt secure in that if we ever had an issue she would be there to help. Our horse was recently injured and we called right away to explain what the issue was and left a message. After not receiving a call back the next day we called and left an emergency message because her injury was bad enough for us to be even more worried. After the third day from the initial call we finally received a call from her. It was rude and condescending that resulted in her saying she only serviced our area for specific clients and we were not one of them. She didn't even apologize that she took three days to get back to us or even try to explain the reason for the delay. She was absolutely rude and said, "What do you want me to do." We wanted her to come see the horse and try to treat her injuries so she could hopefully get better. We can only surmise she may have been irritated because we called a few times and then left an emergency message because we felt our horse needed medical attention ASAP. There are not a lot of traveling horse vets or vets you can easily get your horse into. Three days have now passed and our horse's health has declined significantly. We were waiting on her and trying everything ourselves to help while we bought time until she could be seen. After this call today we now are on a search for another vet to see her. As a customer I would NEVER rely on this vet. After having this experience we talked with others in the horse community and found out she did almost the same thing to someone we know and didn't call them back until the third day. The moral of this post is to educate others on how insensitive this vet is. Customer care, compassion, and understanding is NOT on the top of her list.
