How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Alamo Pintado Equine Med Center

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

This is the model of excellence is equine health care. As a referring vet and as a client, I have been continually impressed by their professionalism, skill, and care. Dr. Judy and his team saved the career of one our big boys last year. This year, we owe our gratitude to Dr. Walker, Dr. Kerr, and the rest of the crew that saved our 6 month old Clydesdale filly from a bad colic. Outstanding medicine and amazing communication throughout her stay, even with the challenges presented by the current Covid situation. To the entire Alamo Team, thank you. We’re lucky to have a hospital like yours to turn to when things get critical!

Alamo Pintado is an incredible Equine medical facility. When our horse recently fell ill with colic-like symptoms we made the three hour drive to get him up there on the advice of our horse loving neighbors. Our very sick gelding was treated by Dr. Hamer, Dr. Byrne, and several other specialists and interns. The entire staff was genuinely concerned about and attentive to our horse's condition (even Julie from the front office would visit him for pep talks!). The doctors communicated with us at all times, inviting us to contact them with any questions or concerns. It was a very tough process, but the big guy is now on the road to recovery. This organization definitely goes the extra mile for your beloved pet/friend. My wife and I will now pass on the same neighborly advice to anyone with a sick or injured horse. We give Alamo Pintado our very highest recommendation.

Very poor level of professionalism. Think about your own personal exposure and risk before you become their client! They have, on more than one occasion, encouraged other people to lie in order to gain access to private property for non-emergency reasons. They have no respect at all for the safety and security of your ranch. Regardless of their fees, which are very high, and their method of suing people in a short period of time over a fraction of their total bills without offering reasonable payment plans, they gloat over their command of "ignorant horse owners in the Santa Ynez Valley." Many hear them speak disparagingly about others behind their backs. They have an incredible amount of arrogance in the way they operate and have been known to recommend and administer unnecessary procedures for their own financial gain.

Great Vet they are worth every penny. Our Vet has us send him videos of our horse so we did not have to trailer him in to save us time and money. They have the friendliest staff.
