How to Save Money at Smith Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They treat you OK but I'm not happy with the way they handled my pitbulls anal issue. They recommended surgery without even knowing what the problem was/ is and in my opinion just opened my dogs skin and stitched him back up. They wanted an extra 500 to "send it back to the lab"to determine what they even did. I paid 1800 for that for it to start coming back within 2 months. Owning a pet is not cheap and even more so with these crazy prices and no results. Needless to say I'm not going back to this place. Main issue i had they changed the price on my wife like 3 times and somehow was more expensive when I chose not to neuter my dog at 10+years when it was the cheaper price at first. I really didn't care at the time because I just wanted my dog taken care of.

This veterinary was amazing. I found a pup and Smiths took such good care of her. She is very hand shy. They made her feel as comfortable as possible. They were patient kind and understanding of this poor abused pup Suzy. Thank you for bring so good with Suzy.

I recently switched veterinary offices as my current vet was unable to assist me with the necessary travel testing needed to take my dogs to Hawaii. I contacted many offices in the AV and finally found Smith Veterinary. My initial contact was with Eric, who is a saint in my opinion! He researched, priced out and scheduled my pups for their FAVN antibody testing. This isn’t just any testing it’s very particular and has quite a few steps & requirements. To top this off I don’t have just one but four dogs! This in itself was quite an undertaking. Upon my appointment arrival I was greeted by Eric and the other front staff who were all pleasant and helpful. My pups then each had their exams with the doctor to ensure they were good for travel and testing. His personal demeanor was so pleasant, friendly and reassuring that this process was indeed something their office is efficient in doing. I can rest easy knowing their travel certificates will go just as smoothly. My only regret is not finding them sooner than I did. I’m truly so thankful to have found this office!

0 stars. I wasn't going to write a review after our first dog passed away after a visits to Smiths veterinary but after the second one did, I'm definitely writing one. The first one was a pit we paid $700 for her lumps on her ribs to be tested (not even removed or anything) they said they weren't cancerous or dangerous and she was healthy. Not even a month later she passed away in her sleep. Not only that but the receptionist lady took my moms card from the front desk and after this transaction she had two more unknown transactions. Second dog mini schnauzer we took him in for a check up and shots in August said everything was good. Took him to emergency vet a few days ago he had to be put down due to failing kidneys and possible cancer in his lungs. This could have been caught sooner. My question is what they heck are they doing here if they aren't helping or at-least properly diagnosing. I'm not saying save our dogs from dying but DO YOUR JOB AND DIAGNOSE-PROPERLY!!! Especially after paying so much $$$ RIDICULOUS. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with a fur baby RIP to our babies Dolly and Jack (Jack was only 5 yrs old)

I have had nothing but a great experience at Smith's since 2019 when I first took my dog Trouble there. The staff and the Doctor go above and beyond to be helpful and kind. I would not want to go to anyone else. They provide care for 3 of my pets. They really seem to care. 🌹😊
