How to Save Money at Franklin Ranch Pet Hospital and Hotel

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was nervous about Mickey’s dental surgery, but Dr. Kelly Churchill made the whole experience stress-free. The procedure went smoothly, and my sweet Mickey is recovering so well. The entire team showed outstanding care, kindness, and professionalism. From start to finish, the service was excellent. I’m so thankful and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone who wants the very best for their pets.

We’ve been taking our fur babies here since 2021 and we are so grateful for the great service and care that is always provided. We have a 14-year-old Beagle mix and 8-year-old Labrador that have needed a lot of care in the last few years. Thanks to our dream care team, Dr. Hunt and Mackenzie, we have been able to catch many things early, allowing us to have more options for care and our fur babies are as happy as they can be right now! We know we can always reach out with any concerns and with urgent matters they always try to fit us in same day or give us guidance to get proper care. Thank you to the entire staff for the wonderful work you all do!

Just had the latest foundling spayed. The staff were thorough in pre op care and what to expect. Post op I was updated on the outcome and given a discharge time. At discharge, was given detailed explanation of recovery, things that may come up, and how to deal with it (including when to return to the vet). Franklin Ranch called and checked in a few days later just to make sure. The entire experience had the perfect balance of concern and professionalism. Thanks all! As an aside the foundling has recovered without issue :)

Very nice pet hospital. Looked more like a spa parking in their lot. They had separate waiting areas for cat owners so our cats didn't get scared from any dogs. Very nice/helpful staff. The vet technicians/doctor were also helpful and reviewed our documents with us to make sure everything was accurate & correct. They also treated our cats very gently and with patience. Excellent Pet Hospital.

Love love love Franklin Ranch! I am the primary caretaker of my family's 2 chihuahua terriers. One of which has Addisons Disease. He needs a daily syrup medication and a shot under the skin once a month. When I moved away, my parents became his caregiver but they tend to be forgetful with appointment scheduling and are not comfortable with giving him the shot each month. There were times when they forgot to call and schedule the shot for him and they were always able to squeeze him in. They understand how important it is to give him the shot on the right day and always went out of their way to make sure he was cared for. Just recently, I was going to give my dog his shot and I realized I didn't have enough in the bottle! It was very stressful but I called and asked if I could put in a refill. I was totally comfortable waiting the standard 2 to 3 days for a refill because he has done alright when it has been a couple days off (though it is not recommended) and the refills are usually filled the next day anyway. However without me even asking the receptionist immediately jumped into action and got me the prescription THAT DAY, within 15 minutes of closing. It was a Sunday and they got me what I needed for my peace of mind and the health of my animal. For this reason alone, I will not be taking my dogs to any other vet. Check ups are always straightforward and their regular doctor is so kind and always helps to quell my anxiety while also remaining professional and realistic. I will be taking my cats there for their veterinary needs as soon as I can afford it! It would be great if they offered some kind of multi-pet bundle or family bundle but even without that they are so worth it. Thank you so much Franklin Ranch for going so above and beyond for the health of my animals!
