How to Save Money at Beachside Animal Hospital and Surgery Centre
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very thorough. Debbie is definitely the glue that holds the ship together. She’s been wonderful. The Vet is unbelievably caring and accepting of pets. It’s a beautiful boutique office space with 3 rooms available. This place is ready to get to the bottom of what your pet needs. My Doberman had a bladder infection and Debbie got me in next day at noon. Some testing and a big cycle of antibiotics later and we’re back on track. I don’t remember the vets name but he made my Doberman trust him immediately. She doesn’t trust ANYBODY immediately. With no treats. Debbie has checked on my pup several times since our visit. I’m bringing my other pure bred mutt, Lady Diana, in next for her elderly checkup! I absolutely recommend.

Great vet. He has treated four of our dogs. All with Great success. Dr. Grant takes the time to go over treatments and test results. Sometimes hard to reach but that's probably because they are taking the same amount of time with another family. It's all about taking care of the familia. That always imcludes your pets. Debbie keeps the office sailing smooth. She is the rock in the office. Great team together. We're happy here.

Did an amazing surgery on our rescue pup after multiple other vets refused to operate. We’re so thankful for Dr Grant. There’s a lot of vets who charge an arm and a leg and still don’t fix your pets problem. Beachside keeps their prices low and Provides great care. We are so grateful for this small business!

Recently, I went camping at Doheny, and my 8 month old Heeler hit his head really good. My wife found this place, and Dr. Grant and Debbie were super kind and helpful. I didn't get gouged with South OC prices either. Wish I lived closer to make them my primary.

Dr Grant is the last of the small business veterinarians. His pricing is reasonable which is saying a lot rn as inflation hits all time highs. He takes on all the really tough cases other hospitals don’t want to bother with because they are don’t have a great prognosis. Our dog Maximus had a really odd seizure diagnosis amd we tried everything (we were at Banfield and they told us the only option was putting him on anti seuzire meds but that the meds would slowly take out his liver) not satisfied with the prognosis, they referred us to Dr Grant at Beachside who spent a lot of time explaining to us how a lot of seizures are attributed to pet food. He put Maximus on a holistic diet he crafted with coconut oil chicken rice and sweet potato. Within 3 weeks his seizures were non existent. We’re so thankful Maximus is now back to his happy energetic self. All because Dr G took the time to figure it out and didn’t just sent us home with a solution that didn’t fix the problem (anti seizure meds)
