How to Save Money at Peaceful Passing

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We’ve used peaceful passing twice and it was a very heartbreaking but peaceful experience. To start, whoever is on their phones is wonderful. I had to cancel a couple of times cause we kept changing our minds and they were so so so understanding and never once made us feel pressured. They were also very flexible with times and were able to come later after our kids went to bed. That was so special to us to have that time with no distraction. The Dr that came to our house was great! She was very calm, and patient. She just let us go through the motions and was quiet. But when the time came, she was very thorough in explaining what was going to happen. We got a nice card in the mail shortly after and then the print with a poem that made me just sob. It was so beautiful 😭 I highly recommend them.

As I’m sure is the case with many pet owners, putting our dog down was one of the most difficult things we’ve ever had to do, but the entire experience with Peaceful Passing was worth every cent. Being able to say goodbye to our family’s companion and grieve in the privacy of our living room - where he truly passed peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge - was a decision we’ll never regret. Dr. Jessica Laemmle was a real professional and brought a bedside manner that was both comforting to our dog and to us. I even asked her to check his vitals again after she had pronounced his passing - just to be sure he was really gone - and she did so without hesitation. She walked us through a few of his vitals, which gave us the surety we needed that our pups was truly at rest so we could feel confident once she had gone away with him. PP also partners with Furever Loved, a small, family-owned crematory that provided reassuring updates as we waited expectantly for pup’s final homecoming. They delivered him back in a very nice oakwood memory box, along with a good paw print, fur clipping, and a few other materials. He had clearly been handled with love & care the few weeks he was away from us. I highly recommend these services.

From the first call to our final moment with our beloved Wiggles the kindness and care extended to us will forever give our family the peace we had hope to have. It was as if they knew us,that we were family, a family we had known all our lives. They truly, honestly care. Thank you, we will always call upon the Peaceful Passing team when the time arises for our other pet family members. ❤

My respect goes to this company - particularly to Dr. Al.. Letting my sweet baby girl yorkie Trouble go via euthanasia was beyond difficult... Dr. Al’s professionalism exceeded my expectations during this heartbreaking moment. That evening, more than ever, my family and I wanted to spend as many last minutes with our sweet angel as we possibly could... Dr. Al was there for us every second of the experience - patiently listening... answering all and any questions, and more importantly - not rushing us into a final call... She shared the last sunset with our beloved pup, listening to all the cute stories we remembered.... we felt as if she was part of the family during that time... As hard as experience was, Dr. Al made it natural and beautiful - my Troubz just fell asleep peacefully in my arms...i was able to listen and to confirm the absence of the heart beat... I was able to take my time and say last goodbyes while placing my pup on a pillow in Dr.Al’s car... we had plenty of time to digest the moment... All that allowed us to have a CLOSURE we so needed... Thank you Dr.Al and Peaceful Passing for been so supportive. God bless you for your work and for making such a beautiful difference in this world 😘
