How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Haven Humane Society Adoption Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Great place for dogs & cats. They have a wonderful super low cost spay & neuter program for feral cats that runs twice a month. I've been able to get 5 of our 6 ferals fixed in the past month thanks to their programs. It would have cost almost $2,000 to get all done at a regular vet which is not an option for most folks. Place is very clean and staff is wonderful! These programs really help to keep the feral population down. Only 1 more to go!

I am a long time adopter from Haven. Anyone who does not consider getting a pet from them is making a mistake. The only issue is I would like to adopt all of them!!! The animals are so grateful and the staff is so helpful. They even called a month after the adoption to check up on Bohdie. I have now, over the course of 25 years, adopted five dogs. All of them were truly great dogs, to include my latest puppy that I have had now for three months. If you are considering a new pet, please go visit them, walk around see what happy living creatures they have that just need a home and some love. Again, the staff is very good, and the process could not be easier or more affordable (some are free!). So look at my puppy and ask yourself, why go anywhere else.

We adopted a dog through Haven Humane Adoption and had a positive experience. We had a particular dog we were interested in. They set up a meeting with the dog and answered all our questions as well as let us roam around the kennels to look at other dogs. We decided on that dog and picked her up 3 days later.

I have used Haven a few times adopting my Brutus about 8 years ago, but this time my experience really left a mark. My son found a puppy about 2 months ago after making sure he didn't belong to anyone we were now parents of a beautiful boxer named Ernie. We called Haven to set up his vaccinations and his Neuter. We were advised to call on the last Monday of the month and we did. I want to thank Glen for his awesome advice and help. Glen set up Ernies Nuter and advised me when we could get him vaccinated. He made the experience wonderful.

They gave my dog vaccination in April 2024. 2 days ago my dog was throwing up and had blood out her butt. I know thats sign of parvo. They would not return my call so i just went in yesterday an d they said they could not see her. They only treat the kennel dog, and the doctors were in surgery. It was a cat spaiding day. No one will bill her medical insurance. Its pay up front.
