How to Save Money at Sun Lakes Chandler Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We took our dog Rex to see the vet for a red sore ear and itchy dry skin and was so grateful and happy that we were able to get Rex in the same day!! Dr Vera and vet technician Rachele were absolutely caring and thoroughly went over everyone detail with my husband and I on Rex’s care. Trust me when I say Sun Lakes Chandler Animal Clinic staff are the very best and care so much about our pets!!

We have been going to Sun Lakes Animal Clinic since we moved to Arizona. The staff is amazing and so accommodating. I absolutely love how they treat our fur babies. We had an emergency visit today. Sharon really accommodated my needs to help get my girl in quicker. Dr. Carpenter is so attentive and she listens and hears what you have to say. Daisy and Dixon love visiting their buddies. It's very sweet how they just love everything about them. This was such a hard visit for us today. 😢 But as always, they were all so supportive. Thank you for always going above and beyond! Your kindness doesnt go unnoticed! Your friends always, Alison, Daisy Rae and Dixon Rooney Ortega ❤️

I took my lab in for her annual exam and she was treated so well. She normally gets shy around new people but she was so happy and so comfortable at her visit! Her vet tech, Caleb, was very welcoming. He spoiled my Oakley girl with treats and attention, made sure she was comfortable during her exam, and even gave me recommendations on dog treats and leash training. This was my second time taking my dogs here for their annual visits and I will definitely continue to do so!

My deaf dog pax had to have surgery due to a necrotic sore on his neck, and they made me feel so safe with him being there. He absolutely loved being there despite the reasons. When we came back to get his stitches out he recognized where we were going and was so excited 😂 He is so excited to see Rachele and dr greenway!

I would like to thank Sun Lakes Animal Clinic for such an amazing first impression. From my first phone call, Sharon was very helpful and informative with all of the questions I had and getting my pet set up with an appointment once we arrived. Sharon greeted us at the desk and let us know that they were expecting us and that is where we went into a room to wait for a technician. The technician came in and introduced himself as Caleb. He is amazing! He made us feel so at ease, as well as our pup, making sure that he understood our concerns being that we have a deaf dog. He could not have been more accommodating and receptive we couldn’t have asked for a better tech. Dr. Coeburn came in next to let us know she was going to examine our pup to see if she could observe the concerns we had mentioned. Once she completed her exam, she came back in the room to explain to us she would like to get some x-rays. We opted to have our pup undergo sedation for the x-rays being that she is a deaf dog, and can’t be comforted by verbal cues. Once our pup was done with the x-rays, we were contacted by another technician Rachel, who was just as caring as everyone else we had met that day. She assured us that our pup came out of sedation just fine and that she would be able to be picked up shortly, but wanted to touch base with us and let us know everything went well. At the end of our visit, we were greeted by everyone we had seen that day when we arrived to pick up our pup and the level of care and compassion that they have shown have one of us over to have this be our Vet for our pups. We have two more Doggo’s that need to be seen at Sun Lakes and I am confident we will have the same experience if not better when we return!!
