How to Save Money at Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists - Scottsdale

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This is an amazing veterinary dental office!!! The whole process is seamless. I have brought two of my furry babies and they have taken care of them very well. They are very professional and really cares about their patients. They provide detailed information, answered all questions and always put our mind at ease. Dr. Adrian is simply the best and his bed side manner is spectacular. I am definitely taking all my furry babies to AZ Veterinary specialist and I highly recommend them.

My 10 year old Poodle, Daisy, and my 2 year old Labradoodle, Henry, just had an. annual exam and tooth cleaning by their provider, Dr. Adrian. Daisy has had lots of issues with her teeth and gums, as is common with most all poodles. I want to get Henry on the right path early, and I was surprised to find he was born missing two teeth, also common to his breed. Dr. Adrian spent as much time as needed explaining what would be done, and what he would be looking for in light of past dental history, and invited any questions I may have had. I was given regular text updates throughout the day on each dog. I was sent home with a folder explaining treatment, records of vitals, radiographs and exam photos, and recommendations for health maintenance. I like saving the previous folders for comparison and health history. Daisy and Henry told me how much they like Dr. Adrian and how assuring and nice the staff is. While they aren't actually looking forward to going back in a year, they think it is pretty cool to be treated by someone who also treats leopards and monkeys at the Phoenix Zoo!

So incredibly happy with these Dental Specialists. I would recommend them to any and everyone that needs to have their pets teeth cleaned/extracted. I have a 15 year old Dachshund that had very bad teeth and it really started to affect his quality of life. My vet recommended this office, but I had already read many reviews and decided I was going to take a chance to get my baby in better shape. I opted to have an examination and then schedule the procedure, they offer same day procedures if you're ready for that. The Dr. was very clear in explaining the condition of my dogs teeth, I was already prepared to have all of his teeth pulled. On the day of the surgery, they texted me as soon as he was going under anesthia and a couple more times, throughout the process. When I showed up to pick him up, they knew exactly who I was and even shared that they got to hang out with him a little bit. It has now been about a month since his procedure, my boy had 27 teeth pulled in one day and got to keep about 5, including most of his canines. They give them nerve blockers that last like 72 hours, so your dog is very very comfortable post surgery. He's such a happy dog again. me and Dublin (my dog) THANK YOU!

After the professional and loving care I received from the staff at this veterinary dentist' office, I would be remiss to not post something in that regard. My beloved boxer, Jax, had a large mass under his chin and, having experienced a bout with cancer years ago, I entered their office with great trepidation. From first contact with the office staff, I laid those fears to rest. Dr. Alex Adrian was a consummate professional that has developed the ability to provide genuine care and genuine compassion to both his patients and their owners. Thank you for the results of your work and the future years I will have with my boy, Jax.
