How to Save Money at Pet Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My friends dog was attacked and without appointment and quick they took care of him and did surgery on him. Sabrina is amazing and deserves a raise. She has went above and beyond of what her job description is to help my friend’s dog. I recommend this place 10000%

I asked around in my circle for a good pet oncologist and Dr Gilson was recommended to me. My cat had features that his normal vet believed to be cancer. Dr Gilson was able to do a biopsy the same day as my appointment to confirm the diagnosis and scheduled the amputation for two weeks later. The staff was very patient with my nervous cat and kept him very comfortable during his recovery with plenty of meds. I was also really happy with how clean and neat his incisions were and they healed beautifully. It’s now almost 6 months later and my boy is doing great. I’m grateful for Dr Gilson and happily recommend him from my experience here.

Please consider taking your beloved pets to the urgent care across the street and behind the U-Haul, called VetMED. These jokers at pet urgent care are just that, jokers. On our emergency visit New Years Eve, our cat was diagnosed with a mass. The vet on staff was like a bull in a China closet wanting to operate immediately telling us, “if I open her up and it’s bad news, I just won’t wake her up and that will be that!” He leaves and his staff come in to slow his roll and tell us about options. We select an ultrasound to see if it is operable. They give us only 4 days of anti-nausea meds (ultrasound was on the 6th day) and never offered us or followed through with any pain or nausea meds afterwards. I take her in and drop her off for her ultrasound. After 4 hours of waiting, I had to call them to which they informed me “oh yeah, she’s been ready for pick up.” They never called me to tell me. (Wait for it, this is a trend.) Fast forward to Tuesday when we were supposed to have the results and we never received a call. So finally, I called them on Wednesday and they stated I would get a call back in a few minutes to an hour. I went the rest of the day and never heard back from them so I had to call them yet again to follow up to which Rachel on the phone told me very matter-of-fact and dryly that my cat had pancreatic cancer and there was nothing that we could do and that it was time for hospice care. She advised me that she had not called me back because she had reached out to their cancer specialist who is on Vacation and she was waiting to hear back from him to call me with the results. A man on vacation was holding up our knowledge of the results. So Rachel then promised me she would continue to follow up with the cancer specialist until we got our palliative hospice care information. Fast forward one week and my cat is still having symptoms so I call and speak to Michael, who apologizes profusely for Rachel who is now on vacation herself and he promises he will do some research and he will call me back within 24 hours. Fast-forward it’s been a few days and today is the day that my cat told me it’s time for her to be put down. So we walk in to the same urgent care to be told by the less than helpful woman at the front Desk that Rachel’s on vacation so that’s probably why she’s not calling me back. Michael didn’t work today and that matter-of-fact there is no vet in office so there is no one to help us with the euthanasia. The only thing that this vet office really did for us was the less than compassionate woman at the front desk sent us to the urgent care specialty care across the street behind the U-Haul called VetMED. I would warn you if you are following up for anything with your pet that actually requires follow up from these people It is clear they are understaffed and overworked and really don’t have any intentions of following through on their word, ensuring that your pet has what they need, and a severe lack of compassion. Also, how are you open if you don’t have a vet on staff? Thank you for making the last 20 days of our cats life without medication, without the hospice care promised and a bunch of broken promises from Rachel and Michael. Please, please take your beloved animal somewhere else. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, you’re treatment of people who are respectful of you and your profession who come to you for help, care an compassion. You have failed my family and our fur baby.

This place is absolutely amazing. They helped my dog get cactus out of his foot on a Sunday afternoon without hesitation. The price was affordable and the care was exceptional. Highly recommend this place. Thank you for your compassion for my family member.

I have been taking my dogs here for over 4yrs now. We have been going for routine care as well as cancer surgeries. Dr Gilson and team are amazing. They really care about your pet and are phenomenal with surgeries. You really notice the difference with quicker recovery from anesthesia and minimal scaring. There isn’t a better place to take your pet.
