How to Save Money at Family VetCare of Phoenix
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I first visited in 2023 and had a great experience, my second visit with the same dog was very much not the same; in total I was there three hours; with 2 of those hours being wait time. Once being seen it was chaos between the vet and the tech; appeared to be very little communication between the two of them; I feel that the Vet was scared of my pittie breed; even shaking when giving him a rabies vaccine, he seemed so unsure of everything to do with my dog just an odd feeling, it was a chaotic day for them the sweet receptionist was just frazzled and overwhelmed a little but maintaining her composure; apparently short staffed or replacement staff was not on the same page as everyone else. I was not pleased with this visit at all. Reluctantly I took my Frenchie there and then my other pittie breed as well, 2 days later and it was a completely different experience; the vet that day was absolutely a God send; he was great. I got questions answered everything was very thorough, he and the vet tech were able to get my 109lb female pitties toenails cut for me. It was a blessing. So overall it’s a great place, and like anywhere else has off days. Avoid Monday morning rush for sure. I was there 13 minutes after opening and was there for 3 hours.

The staff at this vet are truly the best. My 15 year old dog Stella is very fearful and can be a handful to manage, but the staff here are always so patient and willing to work with her. They always give me an in-depth breakdown of what's going on, their recommendations, and the plan going forward. I feel very confident and comfortable having my dog in their care. They answer all of my questions and give their true honest opinion on what they think is best, even if it means they charge me less/have less services completed. I have only had Dr.Cope but am confident that the rest of the staff are equally as great. Their patience, knowledge, and handling of difficult situations/patients gives me peace of mind. Thank you Family VetCare!!

Horrendous experience! My older cat was having some issues walking. We went in and almost $1000 for Xray and bloodwork. Then over the next week or 2 he quickly got much worse due to apparent bone cancer and muscle loss in the back legs. He seemed to be paralyzed. Having bathroom problems and dragging his back legs. Over $300 more to put him to sleep. Unfortunately, they did an extremely bad job. When my other cat had to be put to sleep, they did a much better job at a place in Florida. But this place decided to make my cat suffer putting in catheters for some unknown reason without any pain killers! He was crying so horribly. Then I had to say goodbye when he was in a disturbing condition. He was shaking with his tongue sticking out. He did not seem to be aware of anything or recognize me. Now I'm traumatized having to live with this awful memory forever. I would highly recommend not going here! The place in Florida just did a simple injection to make my other cat relax. Then a second injection to stop his heart. No idea why this place couldn't do it that way to avoid the trauma and pain. Update: If your standard operating procedure is to jam two catheters in a cat's arms with zero pain killer that's absurd. How could that not be painful? Like I said, why not just use a regular injection for the pain killer? Makes much more sense. Then a second regular injection to make his heart stop. I don't know if you are overcomplicating things to get more money or what.

Great (but still sad haha) experience here. The vet and staff here treated my cat with sooo much kindness as he was getting old. A few months ago, we made the decision to put our cat down because he was almost 20 years old, becoming very frail, and had multiple health issues. The vet was so compassionate and sweet towards my cat. The staff seemed to truly care about him and my family. They gave us all the time we wanted to say goodbye. They were very respectful and treated my cat so much dignity. I highly recommend this clinic. Very kind and knowledgeable staff. I am very happy with how this clinic operates. ❤️ They also sent us a sympathy card in the mail!! So unbelievably kind of them!! It is hard to say goodbye to a pet, but its is a kindness to not allow them to suffer.

I absolutely love bringing our pet here! We had our dog boarded whenever we left the country for a week and she had a great time! We also got progress reports on her and we're aware of how she was doing as well with her stay. Great and friendly staff, clean environment, and not costing an arm and is a MASSIVE plus in this economy! If you're looking for a reliable vet, this is the place for you! They love our 10 year old as much as we do here.
