How to Save Money at ArkVets
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My lil Pug started having an issue with eye. She was having trouble keeping it open, it was watery and I could tell it was really bothering her. I was able to get an appointment for her at ArkVets. It was a very good experience from start to finish... The Vets and the Vet Tech's were all great, very personable. My Puggie had scratched her Cornea. They confirmed it by placing dye in her eye, it adheres to the scratch and then can be seen by shining light in it. It was a significant scratch. She was put on Antibiotics and eyedrops for seven days. We took her back after 7 days to recheck the eye. We are happy to report her eye is all better. I'm so thankful. They are upfront about the cost of service and I was comfortable with what I paid. Very fair! Everyone was so kind and thought she was so cute. I have agree... I hope she doesn't get anymore injuries, but if she does, ArkVets will be my first call.

Took my cat Sugar Demon for an urgent care visit because of something wrong with her eye that was drastically affecting her behavior. I was referred by another vet practice that was already booked and they said ArkVets is excellent-- they are. I was able to schedule on short notice. The vet, Haley Burgart, was PERFECTLY ON TIME for the appointment. She actually knew what she was talking about and listened to what was wrong. The vet tech Kaylee gave me an estimate for what tests the vet wanted to run and how much each of them would cost. They are informative and don't pressure you into anything. I was able to decide what tests I agreed to and it actually ended up being $20 cheaper than the estimate even though I went with everything Haley recommended (even I could tell the tests were necessary after googling what each of them were-- they weren't pushing anything unecessary like at other vets). Thorough and knowledgeable checkup. My precious Sugar Demon is improving rapidly under Haley's recommended prescription and recommended care routine. After bad experiences with other horrible vets, this place was absolutely wonderful. Will be taking Sugar Demon back for all of her future veterinary needs because they took such good care of my precious baby 💙 10/10 recommend Dr. Haley.

I could not be more grateful or happy with our care from them. They showed compassion for our pet and us.. Unfortunately, our pet was sick for the first time and I had never experienced anything like this before so I was out of my knowledge. They got us in fast to my relief, got the diagnosis and started the treatment right away. I’m am so grateful to have listened to my gut and beyond thankful for them. Their compassion showed every step of the way. Thanks to them now we stand a chance for our sweetheart to feel better. I highly recommend them for urgent care needed. I am happy and look forward to having them as well for our new Vet moving forward for continued regular vet care.

We had such a wonderful experience bringing our dog Louie here. The staff went above and beyond to help him get better. He is an aggressive dog, especially at the vet, and they figured out solutions to make him feel safe enough to allow an exam/treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Burgart. She’s patient, kind, and amazing with dogs who are fearful to go to the vet! & Overall we were so impressed with everyone’s communication and kindness.
