How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Pride Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Compare Pet Insurance Plans
You can compare coverage options from multiple providers to find a plan that fits your budget and your pet’s healthcare needs.
Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

With a 15 year old corgi, I've visited my fair share of vets throughout the Valley. Dr. Chen is one of the best! He is kind, caring, and knowledgable. He provided a thorough physical examination of my fur baby, without putting him through costly and unnecessary diagnostic tests or treatments. He even suggested a simple solution to my pup's slipping back feet and pulled the booties up on Amazon for me. He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns, without making me feel rushed, spending a full 30 minutes with me and my pup. The receptionist was also great and very accommodating; she squeezed me in for a same-day appointment at no extra charge. The vet visit was very affordable. I arrived a few minutes early and was called back two minutes before my scheduled appointment time by Dr. Chen himself! In a world where 30+ minute waits are standard, I appreciated my timely appointment. My pup was seen immediately by Dr. Chen without having to wait for a tech to grab his vitals and perform an intake assessment. Thank you Dr. Chen and Pride Animal Hospital!

The only reason I am giving this HORRIBLE PLACE ONE STAR is because I have to. Unprofessional by far the worst place to take your animals to! Receptionist is so rude, I called to schedule my puppy the rest of his vaccines and rather then assisting me the receptionist was busy giving snarky comments like “this is weird” “so you want me to flip through all these pages” …. Nooooo ma’am I called to schedule an appointment, if you need to find that appointment then that’s her but my initial call was to have him get scheduled! This person then hung up on me and REFUSED TO ANSWER MY CALLS TO GET MY PUPPY SCHEDULED! not to mention how she was laughing then said we are no longer taking appointments from you. So now I can not even take my puppy to get the rest of his shots all because a lazy person refuses to do her job!

Dr. Chen and his staff go above and beyond. When I first moved to Arizona in 2000 he was the first vet I took our pups too. Now 23 years later we still take all our pups and cats to him!!

We are longtime clients/patients who moved out of state for five years and are back. Dr Chen has always taken great care of our pets, has reasonable prices and doesn't try to sell us things we don't need. Really appreciate him!
