Cats of Ozark is not a responsible breeder. I adopted a British short hair cat from Cats of Ozark at the end of March this year. In October, I was referred to an eye specialist because my cat’s left eye looked blurring. The ophthalmologist examined my cat’s eye and confirmed she has a cataract in her left eye. The doctor also said considering the young age and there was no scratch or wound in her eye, the cataract was likely caused by congenital defect or because cat’s mom did not have enough nutrition when she was pregnant. I contacted Cats of Ozark and sent them the result. However, they refused to take any responsibility even though it says in the contract “Your kitten is guaranteed for any congenital defects for one year.” Their reason was that my doctor was unable to confirm it was a congenital defect. I called different genetic research institutions only to find that there is no test can examine if it’s congenital cataract or another cause. My doctor said my cat is only 10 months old and there was no symptoms that lead them to believe it was caused after birth. The reason that we choose a breeder is because we want to have some protections against situations like this. I will be paying vet bills to help keep my cat happy and healthy but the breeder offered me nothing other than sending the cat back to them at my expense. They made no attempt to even offer me any sympathy or apology. They sell cats as product, they don’t love them, and don't take any responsibility for their cats. I share this in hopes that you will please choose another responsible breeder, do not take the risk with Cats of Ozark.
