How to Save Money at High Falls Holistic Veterinary Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Absolutely best group of people hands down! They go above and beyond for our Poodle. They are compassionate and always there when we need them. They make our fur baby feel right at home and he loves going to see them. Dr G went totally above the call when our 65 lb fur baby had surgery, Dr G drove to our house (30 min away) and helped us get him in so we wouldn’t hurt him or ourselves. Such an incredible man.

A friend recommended this veterinarian office to me and I couldn’t be happier with the service and the genuine love, compassion and concern for my fur babies. I took a stray kitty to be neutered and Doc and the entire staff went above and beyond for that sweet kitty. They helped ease kitty’s anxiety as well as mine. The kept me informed throughout the day until surgery was over and they kept kitty comfortable. Highly recommend!!!

This past Saturday my fiancé and I needed immediate care for a puppy we had rescued. Not being from Alabama, and not knowing where to go, this was the closest vet to our location. Seeing that they were by appointment only had us worried, but Dr. G and his staff went above and beyond. Even though it was after closing, and they were extremely busy, they took us in and saw our sweet pup. They were very honest with us and took into consideration what was best for the puppy. We are forever grateful for their act of kindness. We would highly recommend taking any of your fur babies to Dr. G and his amazing staff.

For most of my Pet Parenting I have always used Western Veterinarians. That was until I was told by one after taking my very sick cat that could not explain why her labs were what they were “that sometimes that is just the way it is”. She developed a condition that was worsening with "conventional treatment" She had many issues, most of which I believe were developed by over-vaccinations. I have a holistic approach to my well- being and so I searched long and hard to find the same for my pets. The first Holistic Clinic was able to get her many conditions stable, but as their popularity grew their care became very impersonal so I knew it was once again time to find a new Doc. That is when I found Dr. G at High Falls Holistic Veterinary. What an amazing and caring doctor he is. Talk about a bedside manner, wow, the best I have seen, and his staff are friendly, patient and show a genuine concern over the well-being of your pet. The QUALITY of care Dr. G provides is superior to other veterinarians. He goes above and beyond to provide the most thorough care. He gives detailed explanations for his thought processes or diagnosis. He will incorporate western medicine when he has to but the difference is, he looks at the whole body not just the issue at hand. How many Veterinarians do you know that actually get on the floor so they are eye level with your pet to make them more comfortable? Me, not any. The downside of Dr. G’s practice is that he cannot take me as his patient! As long as I have my pets, he will be their vet for the duration of their life. He is like no other, 5 Stars is not enough!!
