Exceptionally quick payment!

Our 20 month old rescue required emergency surgery on a holiday in Canada. When all was said and done the final bill was almost $11,000.00! Furkin paid out promptly and turned what could have been a catastrophe into a something more manageable. I have never had insurance prior to this and I am so glad I did this time.

Dubious business practice

In my opinion, shared online by many, charging an enrollment fee is disgusting. Disclosing it quietly only at the final moment before payment is sleazy. The charge is at best a nuisance fee, at worst price gouging. While you pay a full first-month premium you are only provided minimal coverage. Surely that covers so-called "set-up" costs. If this is how Furkin chooses to nickel-and-dime customers at the onset of a relationship, it raises serious concerns about how they will behave when it actually comes time to pay a claim. It's great that ethical businesses do not emulate this business practice. Imagine if the coffee shop down the street informs you there’s a “Drink Initiation Fee” to cover the cost of setting up your beverage relationship. “It’s a one-time charge,” they say reassuringly and we won't charge it again tomorrow. Ha!

Found ourselves with our 6month old pup showing signs of pneumonia. Of course we had to find out with x-ray and other tests. Although nervous, we needed to find out. I worried we would get thru this and then have back and forth calls, paperwork and all going back and forth with insurance. I was relieved to see that it all was smooth and the money was in very, very shortly. Relief for that experience and knowing future ones, if needed, will be the same. Thank you. Staff was tremendous.

Highly recommend

My dog had to do a spinal disc surgery and hospitalized for 3 days, I wouldn't able to afford that large unexpected medical expenses if I didn't have any insurance. It's worthwhile to have pet insurance and Firkin is fantastic, the claim process is quick and easy. Highly recommend

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age, gender, and postal code, with premiums averaging $55/month.

As low as $100 annually

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 7 weeks and under 14 years old to enroll. Once enrolled, coverage will continue for as long as the pet remains enrolled.

Waiting Period

For Accidents – 48 Hours

For Illnesses – 14 Days

For Cruciate Ligament Conditions – 180 Days
