How to Save Money at Animal Hospital On Teasley Lane

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took care of one of my babies more than once. Great service every time and less than EVERYONE else. They get my business for all 3 from now on. Thanks for taking good care of my family members.

Best place to take your pets in Denton, TX… Amazingly compassionate and willing to work with you and your pet to make sure all parties are happy and healthy. Big thanks to Sidney, going above and beyond to help me/offer advice via chat as my dog is a bit of a problem child when it’s vet time. Thanks to them, Loui can rest easy tonight.

We had an appt scheduled for over 2 months, disclosed we're a rescue when it was made, they emailed us documents to OUR RESCUE EMAIL ADDRESS at that time, I confirmed that I could pay by phone because the foster would be the person bringing the dog to the appointment and now, 3 days before the surgery, they called & canceled us because they aren't seeing new rescues and claimed they didn't know we were a rescue. (They also emailed the surgery consent forms again last week.) The staff member who called, Dee accused us of not disclosing we were a rescue when we scheduled and said the doctor would have to decide if we could keep the appt. I explained to her that this was very concerning since we had had the appointment for over 2 months and that I had disclosed everything, and that we were not asking for a discount, and that we were paying in full on the date of the service, as we always do anywhere we go. The staff member just kept saying well, we didn't know anything about you being a rescue. That's just not true. Then, 30 minutes later the vet called and said I was rude to her staff member and canceled the appointment because they're not seeing any new rescues & her staff is precious to her. I was not rude, I was confident in what I explained because I knew I had my facts straight. But the doctor didn't want to hear my side of the conversation. She believed her staff member and her mind was set. Extremely unprofessional! Her staff member Dee was very accusatory and when I was confident in my response even started to backtrack and stumbled in her words. But again, the doctor didn't want to hear anything I had to say. Just kicked us to the curb even though we had the appointment for 2 months and they knew all along that we were a rescue.

Lovely staff and great vet. Took my dog Grunt here to get neutered after a few places turned him away because of some medical concerns with his breed. Not only did they do his surgery the price was very reasonable. The staff were very caring and even trimmed his nails while he was out. Thanks guys for the great job and friendly professional service.

I highly recommend this clinic! I was recommended this vet by TCAP because they couldn’t see my kitty as his ears are tipped. The prices are very fair, the medical assistant and the vet are all really down to earth. I love that the vet gave me some low cost food options for my kitty with urinary issues because not everyone can afford $80 bag of food. They were very sweet to me and my cat Buddy. They also took care of my husband good friends dog who needed an amputation. They are just really amazing and caring.
