How to Save Money at Williamson County Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

In soooo very grateful for you guys. Dr Reynolds is an amazing vet and man. He was so extremely caring and kind. The entire staff from the phone call till the exit was outstanding. It’s so refreshing to find a place that doesn’t persuade you into doing so many things and test right out the gate and overwhelm you. Dr Reynolds gave a recommendation but agreed to do whatever I wanted. No appointment as it’s walk in and that’s fantastic. I waited less than 20 minutes. Thank you to everyone at Williamson County animal Hospital

Literally the best vet I have ever been to. I have an English Bulldog so you know I have spent sum time sitting at an in a vet office. They are always courteous and straightforward which is so appreciated when dealing with an ill fur baby.

I would not even give a star to these people. If you have an emergency and your dog cannot walk after a fall, but their alert you will be asked to wait!!! I said oh hell no...and they got her back. This is unacceptable in my book. This was the closest urgent care. Please do not go there, EVER for emergency care. Horrible!

Very professional and attentive. Very empathetic and great listening skills by the entire staff. The cost was reasonable as well. Update:. I wanted to add another year of experience to this review. The staff here is incredible from the office, to the techs and from the fellow clients to the doctors. I adore this place for quick nail trims to more serious issues with my furbabies. These guys and gals are by far the best vet experience I have had the pleasure of experiencing in all my pet ownership. Their prices are exceptionally reasonable for the type of care and experience you receive. If I could give them ten stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, I would.

I wouldn't give any stars if that was an option. I brought my 7 month old kitten in on Dec 7th which was a Saturday. She abuptly started behaving oddly the day before and had continued the same behaviors Saturday morning. Agressively licking herself, like in a panic and batting at her face. I thought maybe she had gotten in the sink and gotten something jalepano related in her mouth (from our dinner). She was extremely bothered by whatever was going on with her, it wasn't normal. I knew something was wrong with her. We waited in the waiting room for almost 2 hours. They said they do not take appointments, just walk in, so okay. We get called back and the vet is with my kitten for a little bit, listens to me explain what she is doing and then takes her to the back to further check her. Brings her back in the room and said everything seems fine. He said nothing indicates a problem, so I think it's behavioral. I thought that was strange because, that behavior turned on like a light switch. I'm questioning myself of what could be going on in my house that would cause my kitten to out of nowhere start acting crazy. They prescribe medicine to calm her down. The visit and the medicine cost me $149.60. A few days later my kitten vomits up everything shown in the pictures. A broken hair tie, candy wrappers, and hair out of my daughter's trashcan... We have 3 other cats, none of them have ever gotten into the bathroom trashcans and eaten nonfood items. That isn't something we are used to. I"m very careful about anything left out on the counters and floor. This was not something any of our cats have done. We rush her to our normal vet where they check her stomach. The vet said her stomach seemed sensitive to the touch and he felt he should do xrays to make sure there wasn't anything left in her stomach or intestines. Luckily he did not find anything else in our kittens stomach. This visit cost me $444.68 plus the trauma our kitten had to endure during a second vet trip. I called Williamson County Vet at least 5 times. I was told I'd be called back, I was told they needed to speak to the vet, I was told they needed to discuss the situation with Tara, the office manager. Multiple times I called, was told they would get back to me, nothing. Just given the run arround until they just ignored my messages all together. I want my money back, the $149.60 for anxiety medicine and a negligent diagnosis. Not knowing and not taking the time to figure it out could have cost me the life of my kitten. She had a belly full of trash and I was given the "It's behavioral" line. What the vet said didn't make sense to me, and I questioned it, but I'm not a vet. My poor kitten, and they don't have the decency to handle the matter. I would have no issue paying for a service if the service was anywhere close to helpful. I had no issue paying my vet over $400 to treat my kitten, I love her, of course I'm going to get her care. I do think I should be reimbursed for this BS medicine and far off base diagnosis. Zero accountability, zero integrity, and zero professionalism. I would never take my pet here again.
