How to Save Money at Five Oaks Mobile Pet Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Belue went out of his way to help send my goodest boy up to meet Jesus. My baby was in a lot of pain and my vet was closed and I found the wonderful Dr. Belue and he called me back on his day off to help us out. This man is a pure angel. I will never forget you and thank you for making it as quick and painless as possible. My boy drifted off in my hands as I balled like a baby. 100000 percent recommend this amazing doctor. Use him before he retires. Thank you, Dr.

DR. Belue is wonderful✨✨🐾🐾 this is going to be pretty long I had a Bichon his name was ayo I called the doctor to ask him about euthanizing him and he told me to come I did he was loving he was kind he was patient he was courteous gracious compassionate I was so upset about my Bichon being put down I cried 😭🙂‍↕️he told me that he was kind of retired I wish that he wouldn't because we need him out here those of us who can't really afford to have your dog euthanized because I called around for a month and it is very expensive I'm talking 700 to 900.00 he also had me go somewhere where it wouldn't even cost me that much to even have him cremated which the MCARC Montgomery county animal resource center on Webster Street I must give them a shout out because when I was there they took Ayo out of my car they gave me tissue I got a nose print and a paw print of him they were truly nice to me if you want to get the ashes it is $150if not it's not so expensive but I just want to let everyone know I always search the Google for the Stars how many that they're getting and Dr.Belue only had a few bad experiences that people said that they had with him I'm letting you guys know he was very respectful and asking me can I hug you🥹 he was so compassionate he hugged me after because I was truly upset maybe some people had an off time with him because they were going through their dog getting euthanized and maybe they weren't ready he told me that Ayo was ready to go he just laid down and went peacefully I'm so hurt 🥺😔but I know he's not suffering anymore thank you doctor Belue thank you thank you thank you. Very very sweet and kind vet..I had to put my Oreo Cookie Monster to sleep..she had cancer and wasn't living her best life anymore..so I took her there...he made a horrible thing,ok with kindness and understanding...she didn't suffer..she went peacefully..I couldn't ask for more than that..I will miss her

I don’t recommend. This man did not wait for my daughter to leave the room before her rabbit was euthanized. He manhandled her bunny right in front of her. This was NOT professional, there was no empathy for my daughter’s grief. Her last moments of her beloved pet are now tainted.

He was very kind, and respectful. I called and explained what was going on with my dog and he got in his car and drove here right away, he explained what he was going to do and what to expect. He didn’t leave until he knew me and my family were okay, he is not expensive at all. He even got down on my dogs level and comforted him first and then admitted the medication. I would recommend this vet to anyone. He truly understands what our fur babies mean to us!
