How to Save Money at Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic & Hotel

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My cat Mack recently starting coming to the Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic & Hotel after being diagnosed with stomatitis. After reading countless positive reviews on Google, Yelp, Reddit, etc. I decided to call them after desperately searching for a dentist to treat my cat. Other places were booking far into the summer like July, August. We came to the clinic and met with Dr. McKay-Dasent who agreed that Mack’s teeth needed to be removed. She helped us get him on medication to keep him comfortable until his procedure. She gave him a shot to keep him comfortable until we could get the right medications for Mack. They were able to help us get the medication delivered to our house, we didn’t have to make a trip back to the clinic until surgery day. Before the surgery the team followed up to remind us to not feed Mack after a certain time and gave us advice on medications before surgery. On the day of the procedure we dropped Mack off and felt confident that he was in good hands with Dr. McKay-Dasent and the team at the clinic. As nervous cat parents we asked to be updated throughout the day and the team did not hesitate to do that! They called us after x-ray to confirm the amount of teeth that needed to be removed, after the surgery was over informing us how it went and when to pick up, and doctor McKay-Dasent personally called us herself shortly after the procedure to let us know how things went. After picking Mack up we received an adorable “Mack’s Big Day at the Dentist” book documenting his day. The team here is so caring we decided to start bringing both of our cats here, despite living a bit further away from the location. We just can’t pass up the opportunity for our cats to receive such good care. You can tell the people here love their jobs because they go above and beyond!

We absolutely love this clinic! The staff is always so kind, sweet, and genuinely thoughtful. They treat our babies like family and always take the time to talk through every step with such care and compassion. It’s clear they truly love what they do, and it gives us so much peace of mind knowing our kitty is in such good hands. Couldn’t ask for a better place!

This is a very special place to bring your cat for care. First of all, everyone was very friendly and professional. Our cats received excellent care. They fixed a record/ vaccination issue from our previous vet and throughly examined our cats in a very caring, way. Also, I really appreciate the calm quality to the office. We really adore dogs, but without them, my cats were way less stressed.

I brought my cat here after switching vets. I did a lot of research before deciding on Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic and I’m so glad we made the switch. The vet tech, Kasey, was patient and sweet with my cat. My cat was nervous and didn’t want to come out of her carrier, so Kasey took the top off. I had no idea we could do that! Our former vet and vet tech would just dump my cat out each time and it was always heartbreaking for me to see. I appreciated how Kasey took a more calm approach to try and get my cat to be comfortable in the room. Our vet, Dr. McKay-Dasent, was very patient and informative with me. She listened to my concerns and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable when I asked questions or shared my perspective and thoughts about my cat. Overall, it was a pleasant vet visit and I look forward to coming back.
