How to Save Money at Sploot Veterinary Care - RiNo

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you so much for being so kind and understanding. I’m so glad we found a place where they actually helped Biku I do want to shout out to the person who helped us at the 2000 chester (Aurora) location. He was the sweetest, kindest, helpful, humble person we ever met! Thank you so much sorry we didn’t get your name but you are the best!

Sploots RiNo was absolutely fantastic with my mini dachshund puppy, Zero. We came in for his first checkup and a new set of vaccinations and everything went perfect. We were able to fill out all the forms online so no waiting. Zero got in right away, got checked out, and received his vaccinations all with very little pain or anxiety. It felt like such an efficient vet visit while still allowing for plenty of time for questions and them trying to learn as much as they could about Zero. Grace was such a first point of contact and really helped me and Zero feel at ease while being incredibly knowledgeable giving great recommendations. Dr. Casali was also was very informative and truly cared about Zero providing a lot of information and timeline for his future care. Zero absolutely loved the treats and toys and the follow up the next day on his condition was incredibly touching. I can’t imagine having a better experience. Everything felt modern and meant to provide the best care while making it as informative and easy for even the busiest pet owner. Can’t wait to continue to work with Sploots for many years to come.

This place was incredible. They tended to my cat, Icarus with the utmost attentiveness and care. Each doctor, tech, and front desk person that I spoke with was so kind and truly cared for my little bald gremlin. Can’t recommend this place enough.

My experience with this clinic has been extremely disappointing and exhausting. Over the span of about two weeks, I had to return four times because the cast placed on my dog’s broken leg repeatedly came off. This created unnecessary stress for my injured dog and ongoing frustration for me as an owner. A medical cast should not require this many repeat visits for the same issue. Yesterday, the cast was replaced yet again and by the next morning, it had already fallen off. At that point, my confidence in the consistency and quality of care was completely lost. When I contacted the clinic to request an urgent appointment, the interaction with the front desk only worsened the situation. I was spoken to in a dismissive and condescending tone and felt openly disrespected during the call. Instead of understanding or urgency, I was met with a lack of professionalism at a moment when I was genuinely concerned about my dog’s well-being. Throughout this process, I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. There was no clear explanation, no accountability, and no reassurance that the issue would be properly resolved. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this clinic. Pet owners deserve professionalism, respect, and reliable care especially when dealing with serious injuries.

Dr Parker, Corrine and admin staff were absolutely phenomenal. I brought my sweet Huck in, and we had a few mishaps due to his severe anxiety. They were so patient, kind and went above and beyond to ensure his safety, comfort, and a positive vet experience. Thank you!
