How to Save Money at Roseville Animal Medical Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I reached out to them a few weeks ago when my dog, Cali, got a foxtail stuck in her nose during her morning walk. Upon check-in, the vet tech, Morgan, immediately put my dog at ease, calming her down (as she kept sneezing and bleeding from her nose)while, with extreme professionalism, she gathered information regarding Cali's health. Dr. Jenna examined Cali, addressed all of my and my husband's concerns, and explained the steps of the foxtail removal procedure in great detail, in a clear and simple manner (covering everything from anesthesia and IV fluids to post-operative recovery). Dr. Jenna was incredibly helpful, friendly and easygoing person from the very start. The communication was excellent, including during the follow-up phone call. It was a wonderful experience. I absolutely recommend this clinic!

Anyone who has ever been through the process of moving their pet internationally knows how expensive, tedious and incredibly stressful the process is. I had called around for a USDA accredited vet and before finding Dr Singh, I did not feel confident with the process and it felt like a money grab. Dr Singh was patient and kind. He explained to us that due to staff shortages he was not confident that the government agency would endorse our cat's health certificate in time for our move. He could have just performed the work and charged us but this allowed us to make an informed decision. We went ahead and hoped for the best. We received a call the following morning from Veronica who handles the paperwork and she made a point of emailing the agency to let them know of the urgency. The very next morning she called us with a Fedex tracking number and to our relief, informed us that the certificate had been endorsed. I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr Singh and Veronica for ensuring they did everything in their power to ensure that our pet could make the move with us. Thank you to the vet assistants who braved trimming my very opinionated cat's nails. The receptionist was delightful. A truly amazing team!

I have been to many Vets in the past 8 years. Most of the Vets have been a bit disappointing and unfortunately, I haven’t found a Vet that I am confident about. But I saw that this Vet was having a grand opening & decided to try it out. I have never heard of Dr. Singh nor did I know anything about him. I didn’t read any reviews either. After my very first visit with one of my Bengal cats, I felt a true difference after leaving. Dr. Singh was very knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions. He did not try to rush me but quite the opposite…He made me feel like he cared about my pet’s well being and listened to all of my concerns. He also made me feel comfortable and confident about his expertise. I even called back several times with many more questions and he continued to help me. Dr. Singh’s calm and kind demeanor is very inviting especially when you are stressed about your pet and their well being. I have to say that I am shocked that I found a Vet that cares about our animals. It’s taken 8 years. I am very happy with my decision to bring my pets here. And another plus is it’s in Roseville! Not that far from me. I am so happy with this place. Finally, I found a wonderful Vet. Thank you for your services. Us pet owners need to feel confident about bringing our babies somewhere when they are not feeling well and know that they are taken care of with knowledgeable and caring staff. I never write reviews but I felt this one was much needed and I hope others will bring their pets here. Thank you so much for caring about my babies!!

I went here for the first time. Everyone was very sweet. My appointment was at 3. Took them a while to see me. I was here for 2 hours for allergies shots, heart wormer test, and rabies vaccines fort my two dogs. My husband ended up taking my dog back in because she was still coughing. He booked an appointment and was these for 3.5 hours. They did chest x rays and a swab.
