How to Save Money at PAWS - The Modern Spay Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Tiffany is AMAZING. An ER vet gave us their number for an exploratory surgery (which paws does not do) and she returned my call, to CHECK IN ON ME anyway!! Well above and beyond what I ever expected. Her compassion made all of my anxiety better, and she even talked to me about where I was going to take my dog. Absolutely amazing people in this facility.

Our vet quoted us over $700 for neutering our small golden retriever. We found this place, and it’s very nice, quick, and easy. Everything went well, and they took great care of our baby for the few hours he was there. We’re 10 days out with no issues, and we highly recommend this place!

Cool spot for your pups first sets of vaccinations. Decent price and I've never really had to wait, pretty quick service. I do recommend. My Toy Yorkie, King👑💙

If I could give a lower rating, I would. Got home, received another pet certificate, emailed the facility, and was sent the correct one. We finally took the cone off, and our puppy was biting on his leg when I got home. Look, and a mark was on his leg. Took him to the ER Vet , and it looked like maybe a tourniquet was left on his leg and marked him or something happened. He had to have staples on his leg and left with over $300 vet bill. Reached out to the office, a young lady answered and said they would call me back regarding the issue. Did not hear from anyone. Advice check your pet after if you decide to use this place.

Was excited to use PAWS as we had heard good things and we love our dog so we want the best for her. After speaking to the staff we scheduled 2 months in advance in order to catch up on vaccinations before hand. After multiple appointments getting all caught up and the vets loving our dog and commenting how pretty she was and after multiple visits we were ready for the big day. We woke up early, took time off of work, made sure she didn’t eat the night before and got Veda ready for her big car ride. Once arriving, as with most pandemic dogs being in a new environment made her uneasy and barky, but don’t fear your with professionals right. Wrong. The staff was rude, refused to treat our dog and reduced my wife to tears explaining that it is her fault and said “you waited 2 years to get her spayed and it’s your fault she is how she is” wow. Very disrespectful staff, I’m sure they are nice when there is no problem but watch out if they decide your not worthy. Beyond unprofessional, the fact that they were so petty and made my wife cry and made to feel like a she was less than, is sad. What a sad group of people. I included some pictures of Veda (in white) so you can see the viscous terror she is. So, while others in the area have provided us and Veda a wonderful experience, PAWS left us in tears and they may do the same to you, beware all who enter this wretched place.
