A sea of red tape
We decided on Pets Beast after a recommendation by our vet. Our policy was $55 a month for our 5 year old chocolate Labrador, Hershey. Hershey had previously tore his CCL and we had it fixed to the tune of $4k and we were worried he would tear this other one. Sure enough, 1 year later he did. We had the insurance for a year also and they did cover his inital diagnostic test, but did not cover the CCL surgery. Why? Because they had paid for the diagnostic, anything relating to that condition is now "pre-existing". Shop before you buy.

I should have chosen Kroger PI instead
After comparison shopping online for weeks I ended up choosing ASPCA for my doggie & kitty, however after I signed on with them I heard about Kroger's plan that covered more & would have cost less. ASPCA PI did not cover any expenses for Sweetpea's seizures (which was the bulk of expenses). The plan has not saved me any money (I actually ended up paying more for the plan than I would have out of pocket). I will not renew with ASPCA & will check out the Kroger insurance plan next time.

Simply the best!
I cannot tell you how pleased we have been as a family. Our little "girl" has had two major surgeries in less than three months and she is only a 14 months old. Trupanion has been there for us each time to help and have been incredibly fast in their responses to questions or concerns. The last thing I want to state is they have the best policy for your pet on the planet, you cannot go wrong with them.Your pet and your family will thank you!

AKC Pet Healthcare Plan vs. Embrace
After having the AKC Pet Healthcare plan on my four Bulldogs for two years I recently switched to Embrace. I was frustrated about the length of time it took AKC to process claims and the fact that they considered just about everything genetic and therefore denied the claim. In addition, for two years I tried to get them to consider giving a multi-pet discount and all I was told was that it was something they were considering. They still don't offer it...
Knowing that Bulldogs are prone to a lot of genetic disorders, I decided to look into other Pet Insurance Plans. That's when I realized that the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan is one of the WORST rated pet insurance companies out there. I chose Embrace because they are one of the top rated companies and learned there's a reason for that. Their level of customer service is superior! During a recent wellness check (on a Saturday) my vet found a small mammary tumor on one of my girls. She had surgery that day and spent the night in the hospital. I submited my claims to Embrace on Monday and was shocked to find the money direct deposited into my account on Friday (less my $200 annual deductible and 10% co-pay. I was provided status every step of the way. I even recieved a person email from one of the co-founders a week later verifying that I received my payment and if for some reason I hadn't she wanted me to contact her personally. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Embrace may cost a little more but you get something in return - COVERAGE and personal service.
Bottom line is DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you buy pet insurance. There's a lot of information out there. I wish I had done my research instead of just signing up with AKC Pet Healthcare because it was recommended by AKC when I received my registration papers. Having the AKC seal of approval in this case is very disappointing.

EXTREMELY SATISFIED
My 7 year old Labrador was diagnosed with cancer 4 weeks ago. One week after the diagnosis, my dog was scheduled for surgery. On the morning of his scheduled surgery, the poor dog was in such bad shape, the vet was reluctant to perform the operation. She doubted the dog would survive the surgery. She said that treatment would cost over $4000, and was concerned about running up a huge bill in the face of very poor odds for survival. Since I had insurance, we decided to give surgery a try, and hope for the best. Four weeks after surgery, my dog is making a remarkable recovery. The vet is even surprised at how well he is doing. All the follow-up test are quite promissing. I believe Petsecure insurance saved my dog. Without insurance, I doubt we would have proceeded with the costly treatment. I received my insurance check today, less that 2 weeks after making a huge claim. I was paid every penny that I was due, under my plan's conditions. I am quite impressed, and relieved that I had Petsecure insurance.

I feel EMBRACED!
After having the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan for over two years I recently switched my four Bulldogs to Embrace. The difference in the level of customer service is profound. One month after enrolling with Embrace I took my girls in for their Wellness check and Orthopedic Waiver exam (which was optional but recommended to waive the six month waiting period) and my vet found a mammary tumor on one of them. She had surgery that very day (a Saturday) and spent the night in the hospital. I submitted all my claims on Monday and the money was direct deposited into my account that Friday, less my $200 annual deductible and 10% co-pay for the surgery. I am still in shock! The Embrace reps provided me with status EVERY step of the way. I was used to submitting claims to my old plan and then calling a couple of weeks later only to be told that they hadn't received them, or if they had then they had not been processed yet. Then, once they were processed 90% of the time they were denied because they considered it a genetic condition. I started doing research on other options for Pet Insurance and learned that AKC Pet Healthcare Plan was one of the WORST rated companies out there. I chose Embrace because:1) They cover genetic disorders (unless pre-existing).
2) Their customer service ratings are superior.
3) The level of person service I received when I inquired about their plans.
4) The ability to customize your coverage and get an optional Wellness Plan which includes flea/tick and heartworm prevention products (which are covered even if you buy on the internet, teeth cleaning, vaccinations, etc.
5) They offer discounts for multiple pets, spayed/neutered pets, micro-chipped pets, plus they honor coupons you find on the internet for an additional 5% off.
As a breeder/exhibitor of Bulldogs (who as most people know are prone to genetic disorders) I have begun recommending Embrace to everyone who has every purchased a pup of mine and to my dog show friends. I have been blessed with very healthy Bulldogs so my girls don't have anything they consider pre-existing but it brings me so much comfort knowing that they will be covered if something should come up.
I highly recommend Embrace. I'm just sorry I spent so much money on coverage with the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan (who doesn't over any discounts - not even multi-pet) before I realized I was wasting my money. It pays to research pet insurance companies before you buy. I just automatically signed up with AKC Pet Healthcare because the offer came with the pup registration and I figured if it had the AKC seal of approval it must be good. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PetSecure has saved our puppy Sasha
Sasha is a 9 month old Wheaton Terrier and she has had quite a long and detailed health history in her short lifetime. When she was 4 months old she had surgery for ectopic uretors and at 8 months she needed to have her right kidney removed. The poor dog has been though so much and I am sure you can appreciate how costly all of these surgeries and procedures have been. Without PetSecure Insurance this puppy would probably not be alive today as there would be no way we could have afforded everything she has been through thus far. The best decision we have made was to insure her at the highest available plan with unlimited coverage. PetSecure has been fantastic the whole way through and has covered all of the costs 80% in a very timely and professional manner. They are always friendly, caring and empathetic when I have had to call them and would recommend PetSecure to everyone. We also have another Wheaton Terrier who thankfully does not have health issues we also insured him at the highest level as a puppy but after he turned one we were able to lower his coverage for one of the lesser plans with ease. You truly hope that your pet will never be ill and that you never have the need for this type of insurance but we attest that we are so grateful and thankful for PetSecure who were there when we needed them and that having the insurance in place made it possible to take all of the steps necessary to make our precious puppy Sasha better because truly without PetSecure Sasha probably would not be alive today.

A company that keeps it word
Our yellow lab pup developed a skin ailment that has not been easy to diagnose.Trupanion has been there for Maggie all the way, allowing us to get her the medical treatment she needs to get better.
I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good insurance company for their pet.
