Beware if you have a large claim…..
I was quite happy over the years with Trupanion. Had a few small claims; nothing big. Until last month. Over the course of 2 hours, my dog became paralyzed in his back legs, due to a completely ruptured disc. Immediate spine surgery was needed, which was successful. So what do they do? Raise my monthly premiums by 37%. Shame on them. I also had to submit my claim 3 times, because "they never received it".

Lifesaver!
Recently put pet insurance on our newly adopted shelter dog, only had him 1 month and after 17 days of pet insurance he broke his back paw (4 bones), the first 5 claims have been reimbursed 80% within 7 business days. We are right now around 3K in vet bills with surgery, plates, x-rays, etc etc...no hassle, they did have to request more medical records from two different vets, but communication, follow up e-mails, and live chat customer service have all been very pleasant and I've had no issues what so ever. Insurance policy is clear and easy to understand - very very pleased!

difficult to process a claim and get any money!!
They make you go through so much to get reimbursed. Basically, they hope you give up. With all the time I put into processesing a claim I could have worked those hours and made more money to pay for my vet bills. TERRIBLE

Warm and Friendly Service
Healthy Paws has been so great to work with! I recommend them every chance I get to my family and friends. Not only have they processed all my claims in a fast and friendly manner, they always take the time to check in on Molly and make sure she is doing better. I'm so happy I found Healthy Paws!

Good except for usual & customary benefits limits
I've had this insurance for a couple of years now and it's always been easy to file a claim and they do always reimburse part of my bills without any hassles... however, I've never gotten anywhere near the 80% that they claim to pay... it's always far less than that- they claim this is because my actual bills are more than what they consider to be "usual and customary" costs. Which would be fine except that I'm not sure where they get those amounts from- I've had the same experience at multiple different vets in two states, so it seems that all vets charge more than what they believe is customary. Other than that insurance is fine, but I did opt for another carrier when I got a new dog last year- they pay 80% of the actual bill- no limits on the charges.

So thankful for Healthy Paws!
I have used Healthy Paws insurance for two of my dogs, and their service has gone above and beyond for both! I have saved a great deal of money from unexpected medical problems with both dogs.
The process of obtaining the insurance is incredibly easy, and the coverage policies based on the percentage of the vet bill are easy to understand and just make sense, unlike the confusing and complicated policies other insurance carriers use. I appreciate how quickly Healthy Paws processes claims and then sends re-reimbursement right back to you.
Using Healthy Paws has been the best decision I've made as a pet owner. The peace of mind, friendly and professional quality of service, and the financial safety net Healthy Paws provides have been priceless!

Very professional company.
My puppy, Hayley, began limping on her right front leg about 20 days after I had signed up with Healthy Paws. I thought, at first, that she had just over exercised while playing with another puppy so I gave it a week. After one week she was still limping so off to the vet we went. She was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and needed surgery to correct the problem before permanent damage to the joint was done. The surgery was not cheap, but Healthy Paws stepped up to the plate and paid the claim even though I had been with them for only 20 days!!! It was a huge help. This company doesn't just make promises, the keep them! Thank you Healthy Paws.

Wish my health insurance was this responsive
This is my first experience with pet insurance and so happy I chose Embrace. The Company proactively followed up on my claim for my puppy's well visit and a check was sent to me right away.

Expensive But Worth it
I have 4 pets insured by Trupanion, and early on realized that I didn't want to have deductible because the bills kept coming to just below the deductible amount. So I pay extra for zero deductible and get 90% reimbursement on everything but preexisting conditions and the standard exam costs. Covers illness and accident only, no preventive or routine care. I have filed numerous claims with them and their turnaround time is very reasonable. My oldest dog has cancer and the bill is already in $5000 range and overall reimbursement has been 85-90% of costs incurred to date.
