Peace of mind that's definitely worth the price!

As a trial lawyer that has sued insurance companies in the past for wrongfully denying client's claims in bad faith, I was especially careful researching insurance for my Bernese Mountain dog. Of course I hoped to never use the insurance. I chose Trupanion based on reviews and my own review of various policies. Recently I had a claim for IBD that required significant expenses to diagnose and now treat. Trupanin has been excellent. I've submitted numerous bills. The first one took about a week to review since the need to request the full chart from my vet. After that claims are rountinuely evaluated in less than 24 hours. Customer service has been knowledgable, available 24/7 and responsive. They are also based in the US so there is zero language problem. One appeal was required because the diagnosis included given him some routine testing that was initially denied as preventative. A simple call explaining that the test was diagnostic not preventative resulted in an appeal which paid them claim 24 hours later! I will recommend Trupanion to every pet owner I know!!!

This company is awesome !

I was adopted by a little, lost kitten 2 years ago. He was fine the first year, but in year 2 he developed bladder stones that almost killed him. The vets got him thru the crisis (Thank God!!) but I was saddled with HUGE bills. I asked my vet about pet insurance (in case of future emergencies) and he said that his employer subsidizes Trupanion for all employees. That impressed me. I thought that with "pre-existing" issues it was likely my cat was uninsurable. However, I explored and compared insurances and decided to go with Trupanian. I KNEW they would not cover matters related to his previous condition but I wanted coverage for any future emergencies. Their policy is well documented and easy to understand. I like that the owner is responsible for wellness care. I like that I have control of my deductible/coverage. Unfortunately, my cat had another emergency this year. He was critical once more but with another ailment. However, he rallied with the excellent care of his vets once again. Trupanion kept me apprised of his claims regularly. I knew when they received the claim, if they needed information from the vet, the results of the claim and how much I would be reimbursed. If a procedure was not covered, I was advised of that AND where it is in their policy literature. These people are ROCK STARS!! Without their excellent coverage and prompt resolution, I would have to make a very difficult decision about my pet. I simply cannot afford exorbitant bills even though I love this little guy with all my heart. Friends tell me that my cat is lucky to have me. Well, I'm lucky to have him AND Trupanion.

I WAS A LITTLE WORRIED THAT YOU WERE NOT GOING TO COVER THE EXPENSES FOR SHATZIE'S PANCREATITIS. I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE GOING THROUGH THE APPEAL BOARD WHEN SHE HAD HER SEIZURES.

Quick and Painless Claim Process

I find the Trupanion claims process to be quick. I submitted a claim and it was processed the next day and my claim payment was in my account in 2 days. I received emails with the status of my claim and detailed explanation of what is covered or not and why. For a condition which a claim has already been processed, completion of a long claim form is not required so no need to repeat information that you have already submitted. I have received this level of service each time I have a claim for my 2 dogs. I am very pleased.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
