Figo easy to use; doesn't cover the big expenses
Figo has an easy to use app interface and as a Costco member, their premiums are significantly more affordable than other pet insurance, even through my employer.
I, however, almost didn't renew after one of my dogs (who was a stray, found on the streets) ended up needing almost $2K in dental work. Her initial exam included a cursory look at her mouth (which she didn't like and the Vet was barely able to see the side of her mouth). They noted "mild calculus". When she went back to be spayed, I requested a teeth cleaning. It wasn't until she was in surgery and they began her cleaning that they noted two molars were rotting and needed to be extracted. There was NO indicator in her initial exam or behavior that she had rotting back teeth. Figo denied the claim for the dental surgery. I appealed. They denied. I appealed again, with a letter from the vet. They denied it. Why have pet insurance for incidents such as that, where the initial exam on a street-found stray, aren't covered? Honestly, I almost walked away from Figo.
I ensured that should Ellie have other teeth issues in the future they would cover it and they said, yes. We shall see. Be careful what your vet notes on an initial exam. A pre-existing condition that was unknown should have been covered, period. My Vet agreed and Figo still denied to cover it.
